?450's cheaper than they have it listed on their site. I was thinking more in facour of the oettinger one since it would still maintain my warrenty even though it would be RSD rather than VW but since superchips wont cover the warrenty, oettinger might get the nod.

When I test drove the Mk5 TDI DSG that my local dealer had a month or so ago, it was chipped. 178bhp was the claim and I couldn't disagree. It really was damn fast. Quite happy to spin the front wheels out of junctions even with the ESP on.

Naturally the salesman tried to tell me that I wouldn't notice the difference in speed between it and my R32....whatever mate [:D]

You may not be aware - Superchips have their own warranty too. This info taken from their website www.superchips.co.uk

I've had an Oettinger chip for 33K now on what is now a 111,000mile car. It's superb. A smooth, linear power delivery right to the red line.

As Danny at RSD would say, it's not too extreme, implying you won't be needing a new cluth and engine mounts next week. Also, all Oettinger stuff is TuV approved. I also know RSD have an Oettinger tuned A4 Avant 110TDI with something like 290,000 miles that is still going strong.

Just my 2p! It's your call, you'll probably never get exactly the same piece of advice twice on this subject...

Just out of curiosity. How many of you guys who have been 'chipped' -

A: Let you insurance company know ?

and if so,

B: How much do they increase your insurance by ?

This is not intended as a 'pop' at people that don't, just what the general feeling is. I personally would'nt see it as crime of the century - but knowing our crazy law system, they would probably make not informing them a bigger offence than having No insurance at all [:(!]
