Any new news on this yet? Is it still slated for August? Glad to see they're incorporating the 4motion technology into some of the lower capacity models. Will be buying a new car end of year and the 105bhp 4motion would really suit me. Is it true the base 4motion will be circa 14k??

No chance, the 4mo will attract a premium over the 2wd models. I assume that your referring to the diesel, the base model 2wd 1.9Tdi S trim (103ps) is just under 15k . The 2.0 Tdi 4mo will probably only be a few quid cheaper than the GTi

Really? Aw bugger. Only thinking that because that article on that German site said the base tdi 4motion would cost around 20,500 euros (around ?14k). Surely for a 105bhp tdi we wont be paying 19/20k-ish? I think 16.5k is more likely.

Was on the news part on here ages ago.

Does anyone have a real clue on how much they will cost and when they're going to start selling them? Need to know really as need to budget if its going to cost extra! I understand there will be a 105bhp and 115bhp TDI 4motion initially followed by a 2.0 petrol.

No one knows how much they will cost but it is a safe assumption to make that they WILL cost more.

If i were you and had a bit of extra budget i would get my hands on a 2.0tdi instead of a 1.9 4mo.

Not 115bhp.

The 4mo will be available on the 1.9 TDI 105PS and 2.0 TDI 140PS. I would imagine it would add ?1000 to the list price of said models.

ie...

2.0 GT TDI 3DR ?18,230 + 4Mo = ?19,230

2.0 GT TDI 5DR ?18,730 + 4Mo = ?19,730

A dealer may give you 6-7% off, a broker 11-12%.

Thanks KuniD.

Just spent that last half hour on the German VW homepage where the 4motion is already on sale...managed to get a few things like prices in Euros...might give some idea as to pricing over here..I've added 2 grand to the prices to reflect the difference between the German GTI pricing and UK pricing.

Trendline(SE) 1.9 TDI 4motion 105ps - 20475 EUR - ?16100

Trendline(SE) 2.0 TDI 4motion 140ps - 22300 EUR - ?17400

Comfortline(Sport) 1.9 TDI 4motion 105ps - 21875 EUR - ?17000

Comfortline(Sport) 2.0 TDI 4motion 140ps - 23650 EUR - ?18300

Sportline(GT) 2.0 FSI 4motion 150ps - 22350 EUR - ?17400

Sportline(GT) 2.0 TDI 4motion 140ps - 23950 EUR - ?18500

Does this sound about right?

Hmm now just read it'll only be available as GT TDI + FSI 2.0 models, prices around 19k :( Really wanted the to release the 105bhp one over here. Insurance group 14 too. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait til I get a 'proper' word..will go down to dealers on Saturday.

Maybe, but its a good alternative for those who want a cheaper 4wd without bundles of power. Good move on VW's behalf I say. Whether they decide to release it over here, I dont know. I hope so.
