hi been on here for a while now

last year i completed my gt3076 1.8t but sadly after the crankpulley failing i had to go back to the drawing board

unfortuantly i am quite away in to he build again but i will do my best to back track

previously the cars spec was this

agu base engine

adr cams

stock agu pistons

pauter 144mm rods

custom tubular top mount exhaust mani

custom large plenum inlet manifold

garrett gt3076.82 turbo

tial 44mm wastegate

custom 3 inch straight through exhaust

custom fmic

630cc simens deka injectors

spec /bildon motor sport 6paddle clutch

aftermarket pards and discs

audi s3 me 7.5 managment with n75 and n249 delete ( manual bleed valve)

and then this happend

the only thing i managed to salvage from the engine was the rods and the block though in had 1mm deep scores in no1 cylinder

turbo also surstained extensive damage to the turbine wheel and unfortuanly is scrap [cry]

after all this i sat the car up for a couple of months whilst i look at my options and eventually after many shall i or shant do it , i decided to rebuild it again so i started to collect parts

as i was rebuilding again i had decided i still wanted to run decent power but i also wanted to run as little lag as possible (difficult with big turbo little engine)

so after a bit of research i decided to increse the stroke buy using a 1.9 ahl tdi crank and overboring the original damged block to 83mm

it took me weeks to find a donor ahl bottom end but eventually i found one in felixstowe buy a friend of mnay friends

then i started to collect all these

i am using all arp fixings this time including head and main stud conversions also have arp crank, flywheel bolts

i am still making a decision ona turbo at the moment but it's between a precsion 5657 billet ball bearing unit or a hta gt3076

there are other parts but i have no pics of them i am not really i pic sort of guy but i will post up as many as i remember to take

i have also had the car repainted by LUSTRE COATINGS in norfolk in a cutom colour which they let me make [:D]

it is a bit moring in dull light but goes crazy in the sun which is nice

i am trying [:D] tbh i havn't got much choice to do what i am doing, the car is so far away from standard it would cost far to much money and it would be so much hassle to put it back to standard

This is what I need, a good boost thread.

I reckon you should go for a similar turbo, I wouldn't worry about lag, the 30,76R is pretty good in terms of fast spool ups especially for its power potential. You could supercharge if you need low/mid range power and torque or electric hub motors in the rear wheels something new.

the precison 5857 is a very similar turbo to the gt3076 but features ceramic roller bearings and billet compressor wheel and is completly rebuildable apposed to the garrett equivalants,

lag is a big issue there needs to be a happy medium between peak bhp and drivability for a road car any way but this is just my opinion

you must also remember i am still only 2wd as well and beleive me traction is a problem

i did once look at using parts of my g60 to integrate into a 20v but after reading the hassles that people have had who have tried to use a supercharger and turbo with coafliction of boost pressures ect i decided that it was going to be a very expensive route to take

cheers

the new inlet manifold which just needs finishing touches, it features a 2.75ltr plenum and uses AEB runners which have been shortened by 20mm to increse top end power, throttle body end tank has a 7 degree angle to help even distribution on all runners, i have made this mainly as a protype with the possibilty of putting them into production if any one is intersted, manifold will be of to be flow tested next week , this is a bold clame but from the design i have used i feel it should out flow a good majority of the well known aftermarket manifold but for about half the cost
they will be avaliable in large port and small port if they go into production
any questions feel free to ask

we made the paint up as we went along so there is no way i could ever mix this again but i do have about 2.5 ltrs of base left s i have more than enough for stone chips and new editions ect an das a plus i use a 2 pac grey base code so i don't have to use much colour and it also helps the base be the colour it is

Great build - I also had the crank pulley shear on me...partly my own fault though! Yours went with a bit more style than mine though!

Did you test the manifold? Can you pm me with some details - I'd be willing to buy one now and use it on my car asap.

Cheers,

Dan

some people may say yes some people may say no, i know of a few cars running k04 set ups which have gone aftermarket intake manifolds and have gained up to 20bhp and 40lb/ft

and also you are then ready for big turbo set ups which may occur in the future

Ok cool, the k03 hybrid makes a little more then the k04 so it might just be worth getting one of these then?

I think id need the flange for the throttle body oin the other side though?
