Yes, if you read the Maf threads, one guy replaced his faulty maf with one from a Mercedes Diesel which was apparently the same but only cost £47 !!!! Obviously, it only related to the oil burners but it is still a damn site cheaper than the VW one and the Diesels seem to be the worst affected with the maf problem..

Yup, my MAF was knackered big time by the looks of it!!!

The merc MAF is also Pierburg or something which is aparently a lot better than bosh!!

Is is definate they only fit diesels?? I cant believe the diference....i just assumed you couldnt redline diesels, but it spins round to the red quicker than it used to get to 3000rpm.

I used to get to 40 by the end of my lane, just done it at 65.

As i said, cant believe ive been driving my car how it was, never knew the 110 could go this well!!!!

This is brilliant news, I thought my MAF was ok but i'm going to try the Merc part, can always keep it as a spare when the VW MAF eventually dies.

Is your MPG better now?

Do you have a part number Joey?

How can i find out if itll fit on mine?

My MAF is a different make from most others (Hitachi).. can guys on here with petrol and diesels cross ref their Bosch MAF Part No.s so we can see if the petrol/diesel models are the same?

Please! [:D]

there are different MAF's for petrol and diesel

unfortunatley this merc maf only applies to diesels (its from a CDI merc)

So much more power now though, so im using it so probably not better in the end!!
At 80mph i'm at 3200rpm too....it seems worse since i've had my 18's fitted.

I'm defo gonna order this Merc MAF on Monday morning.

Doesn't make sense at all. Rev's will NEVER be different at any given speed from one week to another - unless you've fitted massively different sized wheels (ie wrong rolling circumference). Cause the gearings never gonna change no matter what you do to the engine!
