Hope everyone had a good weekend [:D] Anyone else sunburnt?

Massive thanks go to everybody who turned up and made the meet what it was - A ruddy gud un'!

Turnout on Saturday was a little less than we expected but we didn't let that detur us one bit! I think its safe to say a great time was had by all. We were a little worried that we didn't have enough planned, but, by the time everyone had got settled and had a wonder around it was clear to see there was a lot on offer in terms of eye candy. Sunday was certainly the busier of the two, however. With over 40 cars by mid afternoon our projections for the turnout were more than underestimated [:D]

Trade demos on Saturday (and also Sunday) came courtesy of MRC Tuning, who, with their different approach to tuning and remaping, provided some excellent insight into how Bosch ECU and remap process take place. They'll be hooking up as Advertisers soon so I urge you all too keep an eye out for these guys - their approach to tuning is certainly one of the most in depth processes I've seen to date [Y]

Revo dealers - VAG Power - were also on hand both days to provide information and advice on the Revo range of products. A live remap session was performed on Sunday and again provided a good insight into ECU remaping. Cheers lads!

In addition to the traders, Neil Birkitt, Editor - VW Driver - also popped along on Sunday. Bringing along with him Project GTI - the VW Driver project car - the stand provided a great resource for all things mkiv. A small raffle was held late in the afternoon, with the prize, a free subscriptoin to VW Driver magazine, being won by Forum Member Daniel (Daniel (easy to remember!)). Well done Daniel and thanks to all those who entered [:)]

Great effort by those who entered the show and shine competition on Sunday [Y] It was good to see a great group of clean, well presented cars on show. Congratulations to Mark (T25 ANV) and Beddie for winning the show and shine winner and runner up prizes respectively. Congratulations to Greg (phat4) for winning the show and shine on Saturday [;)]

In addition the show and shine competition, we also had a Best in Show prize. This was a prize for a car that had not taken part in the show and shine competition, but was worthy of being recognised as the leading car of the show. This was awarded to Paul (GTI Jazz Blue) for his excellent, and rather clean looking Jazz Blue Projectzwo kitted mkiv.

Well done to all who took part [Y]

Thanks to all those to helped out with the BBQ on both days, especially those that brought food along for everyone to eat - just shows what teamwork can achieve [:D] Some good food and beer always goes down a treat!

I think its safe to say we'll be having another show next year - hopefully bigger and better - so keep an eye out for the 'feeler thread'. Thanks again to all those who turned up to show their support. The show wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for you guys ans gals [:)]

Yeah an excellent weekend, I really enjoyed it. Was good to meet some new people and some old faces. Anyone who didn't go on Saturday, you missed out on a good time, especially the dodgems lol.

I was also really impressed by MRC tuning company and will be looking into what they do a bit more.

Roll on the next one...! [:D]

Both myself and the missus had a cracking weekend and as Tabs has said, HUGE thanks to everyone who turned up and made the weekend so much fun and brought along the food and BBQ's, special thanks to mr & mrs deadlock and Ray for their BBQ skills and the 'nice and spicy' chicken and to John (curley) and his mate Brian for the Grub and the nicely chilled Foster's, also Rob (Redbeard7) for the very tasty chocalate eclairs and cheesecake..... [Y]

Was really nice to meet everyone and put faces/cars to usernames, some really lovely cars on show and the turn out on Sunday did the forum proud imo, the yellow colour concept stood out for me as it was so out of the ordinary, other personal faves were Rebeard7's Golf, Maxie's black Anni and a lovely indigo blue Bora on TSW's (sorry mate didnt catch your name [:$])

To say i was chuffed to come runner-up in the show & shine was an understatement, i had'nt planned to enter, but after some gentle persuasion from Tabs i gave it a go and came 2nd!!, completely unexpected tbh as i was up against some absolutely gleaming cars (M15 DST, Redbeard7, GaryCundliffe and T25 ANV)

Really made up with all the positive comments i received about the Bora, makes all the effort (& Money!) worthwhile and overall it doesnt scrub up that badly for a 40K daily driver that gets parked in Tesco's car park all day [:D]

Again, a really good weekend with great company, good food/beer and vee-dubs, top stuff !!

The convoy drive home was a good laugh too, which involved some 'enthusiastic' driving on the A50 which revealed some things:

1, I NEED a remap of some sort, oh and some better brakes while i'm at it...

2, MKV 2.0tdis with the DSG box are VERY quick, tried my best to catch you Curley...

3, Xenons look cool even in the sunshine MrJoshua..

Cheers again all, i'm off to tend to my sunburn now....

Steve

Quality weekend even if I did have to leave this morning. Had a great
time at the bbq and pikey fairground. The jerk chicken was excellent
and we all had a great laugh. Thanks for the sausage sarnies this
morning too!! Hope to see you all again next year. Will post my pics up
later though didn't take that many.

Hi guys,

Sunday looked really fun and I wished I could have stayed or swapped the days around. I left at 8:30pm on Saturday night and the wife wasn't too please I wasn't back in London by 9pm but its all ok now.

Had a good time on Saturday, wanted to make it earlier but got held up and Tabs caught me and another certain member of the forum cleaning our cars at the BP in a last ditch attempt to make our cars clean! Big shout to everyone I managed to talk to and sorry if I didn't have chance to talk to you but obviously I was on BBQ duty before I had to leave. NikB, thanks for the little play with your Canon 300D SLR [:)] (I gotta get me one of these - Film Quote!) and chatting about films. GTI Jazz Blue, love your car mate, great choice of wheels as well [:)]

Thanks to Deadlock and GF and Tylerama for helping out with the cooking too :) Remember kids, if you want to get a disposable BBQ, DON'T go for Tescos. UK-MKIVs verdict, stick to Asda and Morrison ones.

BTW, did anyone notice another group of modded cars further down the field?

I second that about tescos BBQs being a bit ropey - managed to use all the matches I had nabbed from bars...guess I'll have to nab some more matches which means going to more bars - It's a hard life!!!!!

It was good fun, Jerk chicken was very spicy and it was fun supervising (loitering around) / helping with the BBQ although didn't do as much as the other 3 [:)]

Thanks again Tabs and the others who hosted and organised the event. I came on both Saturday and Sunday. Saw some amazing cars. I didn't know Boras looked that good until I saw Steve's - you deserved a prize, mate! Sorry to hear about your experiences with your local VW dealer (damaged bumper, no brakes); makes one think doesn't it? Revhead - amazing photos - I saved some to my own personal drive. The kind chap who showed me how to properly clean an engine bay (sorry I didn't catch your name), your tips would be appreciated again!

The drive away from Billing was fun - but I think I was the only one who took M1 South after I parted from the rest of the company at the big junction. When I got home, do you know what I did? I spent 2 hours cleaning and polishing the Anni cos I was so embarrassed not to have done it before the show. Mine was easily the dirtiest of the bunch. Anyway, time to write to VW now and get those BBS replaced. Anyone know how to write a good threatening letter which gets me what I want?

Hi Tylerama

Yes I did get stuck actually. Was awful. Things cleared up quite a lot after M25 but I guess for you to get to Kent you must have taken the orbital clockwise. Did you see loads of souped up Fords with their massive tea-trays stuck on the boots? Must have been some Ford gathering taking place (not to mention the Ford Granada meet across from us)!

Big thanks to Mark and DJ Josh for organising the meeting and also those that turned up, damn well behaved bunch of campers and visitors and I don't think that the site had anything to complain about.

Also like to thank you all on Sunday for my Peoples choice award - I really didn't know what to say - well apart from "bugger me, thas wasn't expected".

Great food, great drinks, great cars and most important of all great company - what more could you ask for - well maybe an illuminated VW sign [:D] not forgetting the 70-80's disco too [;)]. Having said that it was nice to hear the original "Are Friends Electric"

Yup.. J21 through to J2 on the M25. J21 - J25ish was the worst.

Yup.. there was a right shed behind me, escort of some sort,.. loads of goodridge hoses poking out of the huge hole in the bumper, full five point harnesses and deep bucket seats.... and behind half the bumper was missing.. looked a complete mess. had some shitty alloys on it too and a bit of a peashooter exhaust.. sounded like a hairdryer.

There was an okayish looking RS500 cossie on the M25 too. Radio 1 said there was some ford day at silverstone, though they all had numbers on the rear window like they'd been to the pod.

There was also quite a fit bird in a 53 reg GTi with santa's on. and a V6 4Mo with an R32 exhaust and rear bumper and huge 19" A8's.. the dude driving it was enormous. and a mint looking Mk2 GTi too.. looked nice and low too.
