I'd never really considered one.. dunno why... maybe i thought they were too dear still. But ive found some for around ?13k... which has got me thinking.

Just how much quicker is the 180 compared to what i have? (99 AGU 150). Is there a big difference between the two, does it spool up quicker, does the 6-spd box help?

Is the suspension also notably better? (my main gripe with the current car!). I've always had a soft spot for the 25th's.... it looks gorgeous in any colour, and is fantastically specced up. I suspect it will continue to hold its value quite well too....

In case you're wondering "changing your mind again!!??".... im just quite concerned that something as raw as a Type-R would cost me my license. Drove another one this morning... and whilst superb fun, you seem to concentrate more on the dizzying pace its gaining, keeping in the vtech range, and working the great engine and box. I just worry that its too frantic, if that makes sense.

I've only ever been a passenger in a PD Anni before (NikB's), so im gonna have to really find one to try myself.... but just thought id get some opinions off you guys first.

I'm kinda taking as long as i can over choosing the new motor, as its the most important buy ive made car-wise so far.

Cheese! [:D]

It's a bit different to AGU mate, throttle reponse is a lot sharper as is pick up. It'll be very similar to the Cupra R just down on ponies so think of it like that.

But c'mon, you wont be leaving it standard will you? [;)]

LOL @ Chris!

I thought you didn't want another 1.8t motor!

I went from a 150bhp gti to an Anni, and the difference in the whole package is quite big! better interior, better spec, better exterior look, better suspension, better brakes, better gearbox/engine power.

Engine power is quite noticeable, less lethargic low down, quicker to pull (but this could also be put down to the closer intermidiate ratios as much as the extra power).

I totally echo what you are saying about the Type R's character.. It's just a kinda car that Gouds (sp??) into driving it at 200% all the time, and who can blame you when the engine/gearbox are just so eager!

Given the choice, I'd probably go for the Type R, cause the Anni just isn't quick enough (for my taste) un-modified.

Thats why I sold my Typer it had 2 speeds stop and stupid license losing speed, it was torturous to drive around town unless you wanted to be on the next police camera action Video.

IMO your right to leave it, whilst a great car it will get you in trouble and it does soon get tiresome, as my last years total mileage proved, I dropped from doing 13000 a year to 7000 as it was so tiresome, now Im upto doing 1000 miles a month in the 4mot.

My R wasnt going to lose me my license, but I was very likely going to do myself a serious injury or worse, it was like having an addictive drug outside your house.

Agree with mike, most immaculate are ?14.5k UP..... and you want it immaculate really. Is it really what you want or are you jus ponsing around wantin summat different and how long u keepin it? Make it a car you WILL want to keep, os your gonna keep loosin money if your too indecisive!

For ?14k i'd look for a mint S3 on a V to X plate with ALL the extra's. Proper nice cars them chris. Anni is beautiful but not so different to spend twice as much money as you have for a pretty much similar car. IMHO!!! [;P]

That was one of my main reasons for getting rid of the CTR, I used to hit 120+ EVERY day! [:O]

lol,

This is not a pair of shoes you know Chris...

Seriously, your doing the right thing.

It IS a lot of money, and you are right to explore what is best for you..

Personally I still go... ooohhh woow, an anni! whenever I see one. Just a first class wonderful package! - I say the same thing about the r32 too.

Like the anni's too. Didnt think they had dropped that much now, but suppose most are around the 2 year old mark which tallies up.

Hmmm, you are right taking your time, but howay man make a decision [;)]

Is the anni a dramatic improvement over gti suspension? Why have so many people ended up changing theirs?
