Must be an American video. I've never heard the argument settled, but American 1/4 miles can not be the same as English. Remember in The Fast and the Furious..."you owe me a 10sec car"...if Dubweiser's mk1, Dubsport's mk3 and the Dialynx short quattro are all getting 11sec quarters with 600bhp+ and 4wd how much power would a rwd Supra have to have? And how would it get that power down? Also, 8sec area is super fuel territory. Was it road standard?

Not doubting what you've put, but I've never understood about the difference.

Given that it is in k/ph I would say it was European or Canadian. Car looks road legal but is running some severe amounts of boost by the sound of it.

Can't find it on the website (damn language barrier). I presume as you referred to boost you were talking about the 200sx. I did the 1/4 in 12.5 secs with a 0-60mph of under 4secs and a terminal speed of about 115mph. If this car was in road going trim (ie no slicks and/or tyres a foot wide) I don't see how a rwd car could run almost 4secs faster. Another thing, top fuel cars run these sort of times and aren't their terminal speeds around the 200mph mark?

Again, not rubbishing you just trying to work it out.

I am only going by the clip mate. Probably best to see it for yourself. The car looks like it might be road legal and it is def running high boost (the BMW). The 200SX does the 1/4 in 14 secs against it and despite leaving the start a couple of seconds after tge 200SX, the BMW finishes a couple of seconds quicker too.

Boost on an M5? Seems someone has done a rather expensive turbo conversion on an already fast and expensive 500bhp NA V10. Nutters.

I must admit I was a bit dubious about the 1/4 mile time - you are into some seriously rapid car territory sub 9 secs

But it goes like a train off the line - must be 4x4 surely?

Either 4x4 or running serious wide slicks.  I can't see it getting beneath 4secs 0-60, plus at least 0.6sec reaction time...well its only then got another 4secs to go from 60mph to 160mph and cover the rest of the drag strip.

There is a guy by the name of Richie Webb who runs a 1959 (i think)
Cabriolet Beetle (so heavier than a normal bug) with a 2332cc engine in
VWDRC at the pod.

His best time so far is in the 10's with a 0-60 of 3.8 secs i believe.

There are a 2 brothers in the US who have run 9 sec 1/4's in their beetles.

Its all about weight and RWD [:D]

Im not suprised the civic in america s probably the number 1 tuning car
in there eyes, I remember seeing a drag race between a civic and i
think it was a chevvy the civic beat it [:eek:] but the civic had this big
metal thing hanging on the back of it to balance out the weight of th e
car and so that all the power could be used.

That thing's seriously quick!

Also, good to see a Datsun 200chavX being toasted. Got a mental block
on those damn things. Some chav who used to live near me had one of
those with a huge exhaust and sit and rev the thing at all hours.
Sounded rubbish. But VERY VERY loud which obviously his tiny brain
liked.

Tried to race my Golf once and he lost.. a lot. He's moved out now
which is fortunate as if we'd had to endure one more 7am/10pm rendition
of that shocking exhaust it'd have been filled with expanding filler!!
We had the filler ready....
