Was good to meet you, shiuming [:D] some great pics there!!

Well... I made it home! [:p]

I'll be getting my rather unwell golf an appointment with the garage
tomorrow to find out exactly what's wrong. (For those who don't know -
looks like I ragged it too much and have consiquently broken either the
water pump or the thermostat [:(]

Huuuuuge thanks to the guys who helped me get the fan working for a
trouble free drive home, Adrian, John, Cage [Y] [Y] And thanks for
waiting up on the way back Kev [:D] Much appreciated everyone!

Anyway, after forgetting me camera (duh), I used my phone to snap a few shots at greenwich. Enjoy!

Well got in at just before 3am.. ! I am chuffin' tired ! was feeling rather tired driving home .. but made it eventually. What a supreb evening out.. greenwich to the awesome turnout at lakeside services.. I was stunned how many cars where there.. looked superb ! then onto southend.. well there was certainly a s election of cars alright eh !

Shiuming - great pics as always !

Glad you got home okay, Phil. We were trying to work out if you had a walkie talkie or not ! It must be either the thermostat or the water pump has gone. Water pumps are common on these, the impeller just breaks down [:(] - Keep us posted on what they diagnose !

Great to see you all and to meet some new faces. Barry's Renault 5 is awesome.. so much power in such a lightweight car [Y]

And John, lay off the cheese and no more wappy dreams eh ! [;)] [:p]

A fantastic end to a hard day for me (Had to attend a VERY emotional funeral in the afternoon [:(] [:'(])

Gotta email my dad now.. then FINALLY off to bed ! [:D]

Well it was a good turn out I just can't believe that with nearly 30 cars leaving Lakeside all at the same time........ I managed to lose every single one of you!!! [:$]

Followed the blue V5 on RS6 wheels (sorry don't know your name, nice car though!) as far as I could but got caught up in traffic and lights on those horrible roundabouts and lost you...... then managed to miss the turning for the A127 off the M25 and ended up coming down via the A12 all on my own! [:'(]

Absoloutely gutted, was so looking forward to the convoy, especially with the amount of great cars that were there. Oh well, have to try again at the next one!

Afternoon gents (and ladies!) - had an awesome time last night, sorry I couldn't run with you all the way to Southend.
Got some nice pics though which I'll put up on here later today - shiuming, thanks for the advice on my camera! I'll have a wander down to Jessops later today methinks [;)]
LOL @ the pic of my LED-box!

Well, where does one start??

After Aaron got stuck in traffic and arrived slightly later than planned, the quickest nicest option was the local Harvester down the road from me. Food order in, 25 mins later she comes back and says "oh we've not got any spitroasts [easy 'enry]...sorry". Kept my cool somehow... Eventually decided on a refund else we'd be late.

Dunno why I even worried about that... To the car park we go, get to aaron's car, and the phone rings. It's jason. "We're going to be laet. Make it 7pm instead of 6.45". Bugger, I might of had some food. Down to shell for petrol, except they're out... SO back to J1B for the esso, and round the Hall Place for 6.55pm. Neo and Pricey are waiting for us... And we'll give Jason Kev and tylerdan a couple mins to appear......

7.30pm (I COULD HAVE BLOODY HAD DINNER! [;)]) they finally stroll in - and tingtong's been on the phone asking where we are, as there's already four of them up at Greenwich [;)] Roll round to Greenwich (nice gentle stroll, true cruise with all 6 or so cars). Dan (TT) and missus, Tom and missus, shiuming and Ade all waiting for us.... Lined the cars up, photos, banter exchanges... Swap Video's of Jason pished outta his nut last Sunday [A]... Oh and laugh as Neo tries to AG Fast Glass his windows, and ends up with a raging blizzard smeared across the front. Soon fixed that.

Pricey fires up his new blue LED's - to find out they're more green than blue. I tell him they're just camp. I was kiddin Phil I promise [:D] So Neo dazzles us all... Into the boot of his car (and I thought mine was an Aladdin's Cave!) and out he comes with a box of LEDs - "any of those any good?" - see photo above!!

As Barry (Kev's brother, in that madcap white Renault 5!) rolled in, off we tottled to Lakeside. Jason managed to burn one through the right hand tunnel, and come flying up behidn one of our silver golfs... Right up it's ass with a coupel of quick flashes... Until he finds out from us, we're all in the other tunnel, and that's not one of us []

Round into the services... And ruddy nora... We've taken up one of the parking sections in it's entirety... Colin (ctp) who was our chief car counter, I think made it 28 or so, and 24/25 were dubs [:D] After a quick solid fuel up... Lots of banter... And tylerdan nipping into the services place to read the porn again (he claimed it was for food, btu after what happened at the first karting event... [;)]) we set off.

And boy do it go wrong. 3 sets of fast changing lights on the M25 J30/A13 roundabout, and the convoy was in pieces... We lost a few down the M25 to the A127... And apparently a coupel ended up on the A12 [:-S] And everyone STILL tied up at the seafront lights at the far end from where we parked - touch [y] Jason ringing me up to tell me he was on the A127... Lets just say I won't repeat what he said at the time [;)]

A heavy session of slow/fast/slow/fast, and watching Henry kangaroo his poor steelie'd golf down the A13 (I don't wanna know what you two were doing - and did danny ever get his arse out as threatened? [+o(]), some hardcore driving from Barry and a couple of the others, and all those f'ing roundabouts on the A127... Strolled in, twice round the strip, and parked up.

Oh and just quickly... I apologise to the guy in the silver Seat Leon... I think having got myself into the wrong lane for one of those roudnabouts i may have slightly carved in front of you - if I did, I apologise! [:$]

So parked up... The chavs are firing up and down (with a Bentley I think it was in the middle of them - what the hell's that all about?!)... What was that smart car all about too people?? Then comes that 1.4 yellow bodykitted (if you can call it that [;)]) golf... Ema can't wait to get over there and have a chat about it... Graeme's too embarrassed (even by his photo standards [;)]) to take pictures as well... And then some went over and had a chat and re-education lesson.

Funny old bunch though... Managed to feed TT Dan a redbull from the depths of Aladdin's Cave, which at the tiem had the two-ways, laptop and GPS box in there... One of the little numpties goes "Do you like gadgets mate? I've hooked my phone up in my car, and can listen to my mp3 choons now eh?". Boot closed, Walk away....

Had some cracking chats and banter with all sorts of people (some of the usual like the Dans, Jason, Nick (cage) and CJ.... Met some of the first timers like Russ and Lisa B - good to meet you all)... I'm horrendous with names, so don't be surprised if I get them wrong next time I see you... And sorry to the guys who I didn't get all the way around too...

Then John started blaspheming with the F word (that's Food - what did you think I meant?!) and KFC at Basildon hit the cards. Once Kev had found his car ("it's the black one" shouts John over the two ways - yes thansk mate, we'd never have guessed [;)])... Slung it off down there to have a crack at some dinner. On the way, John found his madness tracks in teh car, and was blaring that to everyone who had a 2 way (Jason will be able to explain why some of us found that so funny []). Also, as some needed petrol, some fast entranced action to the shell court meant John overshooting (easy 'enry), and trying to back into the bus stop where i'd saved him a spot. Then some twonk started getting lairy at him for getting in the way (er, hazards, reverse, and you were about a mile back you...) then jumped the lights. And got flashed for his troubles. How we laughed [a].

Off to KFC then.... only to find it was shut. John and myself utterly depressed... So maccies it was. Thankfully none of you clocked what I ate (bar Jason who ordered for me - cheers fella [y]).

Laughed at the Nissan Sunny I think it was (white, chavved up to the max, honking exhaust... brilliant)... That made my night that did I tell you. Then we had the DIY boys playing under Pricey's bonnet to try and get his fans to go like mad... Appears from the above that whilst trying to keep up with the Turbos, he may have slightly overdone it... Hope it's a quick fix and not too painful on your wallet mate - get at thread up somewhere and keep us up to date [y] Whilst the mechanics did that, us non-mechanicals finished dinner, chatted about Petrol vs Diesel and various other bits (nice to meet you btw danny(boy)... good to see sam i think it is from eastbourne too... and tingtong you ever move my driving seat again man... argh i was jiggling half way down the A127 with that, which is why you left me at one poitn!)

Sadly, I got baited by some wally in a beemer flying off down the road (hotly persued by J and TT Dan)... Who I was desperate to get in front of, and wash my windscreen... But I didn't quite fancy the speed required to do it... And he just pipped me to the M25 roudnabout and went the other way (you're luck Nick I tell you mate [;)]). For those that don't know, first wash of the windscreen on a mk5 with light washers, results in a tsunami behind the car... And it was only a BMW anyway []

Sounds like everyone was home by about 3ish... So not too late then... Hope not too many of you were up first thing this morning (I rolledo ut about 12.15 when the doorbell rang, git!)... I had a fantastic time... Thanks to Kev for organising and co-ordinating it - one hell of a mission after the number of cars that turned up... And thanks to the rest of you for coming and making it the riot it was [y]

C [h]

PS - 'enry... we need to tone down de banter next time, too much banterr apparently... yeah man? [;)]

Gutted,

This morning I got rear ended !!

I had the trailer on which took the main impact via the towbar which is mangled. Hurrah I hear you say, as a towbar has no place on a Golf anyway but with a family it's the only way you can shift engough gear. Still gutted and it's taken the shine off last night a little.

Good meet last night and it had a purpose rather than simply sitting in one place. The cruise idea is a fantastic concept although last we all got a bit fragmented on route. Next time with a bit more planning it could work really well.

It would be great if a South vs North cruise meet could be arranged some time where we all meet and convoy / cruise to a central point, like B'Ham NCP car park or something as some of us travelled huge distances last night anyway?

I counted 27 cars, 20 of which were Golfs

I took a few cack piccies on my cack camera...

Above when / with all 27 cars assembled, couldn't get them all in one shot, it was 'BIG'

Above, the Lakeside contingent assembled before the lot from the park arrived.

Pricy- didn't realise you had problems as bad as that, we were chatting about thermostats and water pumps a little before I left.

Adinuff valves- Sorry about the soot storm on route to S'end, your front end must be be covered in soot ?

Tylerama - Nice to meet you at last.

CKB - Next time we park by the chippy !

To everyone else, nice to see you, to see you nice.

Shiu - I'veh ad four people not there ask me what happened who went, who did what and yada yada... So after the second I stopped repeating myself and just shoved that up.

Typically bad humoured... But it's got most bits - feel free to fill in the blanks [;)]

Colin - harsh on the rear end... Someone not paying attention or what mate?? And spot on with teh Chip Shop, John will buy into that too I'm sure [y] [;)] [h]
