One one press the car double locks ie deadlocks,

Ont the second press the car isnt deadlocked, ie you can open a door from inside. Not sure if this means it isnt alarmed?

That is a really stoopid thing if it is true. I often give my key a press from inside the house to "check" I've locked the car last thing at night. I can see the lights flash.

So if I do this (or even if it was done accidentally) you would be turning off the dead locks and possibly the alarm as well. [V]

I've also noticed if you open the boot and then close it the car is still locked (as is the boot) but the light stays off.

More investigation required I think[;)]

Aye, if you press the boot open button while the car is locked it'll unlock the boot, but as soon as you open and then shut it'll relock and the indicator lights will flash once. TBH I get quite frustrated with this button as it seems to be quite tempramental about when it wants to work.

Didn't know about the flashing light going out if you hit the arm button twice though. I do the same Kenl (press the arm button from inside the house to check)

Yeah I have it activated and the boot button works OK (you do have to keep it pressed a bit tho). What the point of the button is tho I'm not quite sure. It would be useful if it actually opened the boot rather than just unlock it

I am 100% sure on the 2nd press thing, the stealer explained it to me on hand over. Just not sure if it turns the alarm off.

I just check mines locked by trying one of the door handles on the way into the house

OK, I am WELL confused now.

Had a play with the car tonight.

1. Pressing the lock button twice does not put the LED out in mine. I tried it a few times too. It just flashes the indicators like you are locking for the first time.

2. If the car is locked and you open the boot then close it the light does come back on again.

So everyone please check their mkV [:)]

Just been out and hada play and annoyed the neighbours with the alarm [:)] lol

If you press lock, then press lock after say 5/10 seconds it just flashes the indicators and the led keeps flashing

If you press the lock button twice in sucsession quickly the led stops flashing

This is where it gets intresting.

I got in the car to check the deadlocking and,

If you press the button twice quickly and the led stops flashing its NOT deadlocked... the little pic of the key on the dash is lit up and its only sigle locked not deadlocked... however the alarm is still armed, as i managed to set it off when i checked to see if it was deadlocked lol!

Didnt try the boot thing as i didnt wanna set the alarm off again at 9:40 pm lol

OK, maybe my technique is flawed with the pressing of the buttons. I'll try again tomorrow.

My checking the car is locked last thing at night will still be OK though as it looks like you need 2 presses in quick succession.

Glad that the alarm is still on but............

What is the point of disabling the deadlocks?

If your not sure then why dont you press unlock once and then lock once[?] That way no one is stoopid [:I] even if you did forget to lock it[;)]

Aye that will work, but the question is why do we have to do that??

If vw wanted this feature it should of been like ford

One press lock

2 or more presses deadlock

also id locked and lock pressed again just once, it should stay deadlocked untill it is unlocked

Had a read at the manual which as usual was not too clear or explanatory. Also it talks mostly about not having the one push only opens the drivers door so I'm wondering if this is a clue.

It DOES say that pressing the switch a second time will de-activate the deadlocks, but doesn't tell you the reason why or if it has to be 2 quick presses. I can only guess that this is incase you leave anyone in the car. In the event of an emergency someone could break glass and open the door.

I know all Golfs don't have the alarm but if it does it makes no mention that disabling the interior protection so that you can leave someone inside also turns off the deadlocks.

col.mc - out of interest does your car have the single press to open all doors or just the driver's door?
