On my car and my GFs polo its the siren that chirps/beeps.

I think you get the horn sound on the older golf's that came with Vortex alarms, the later ones all have the chirp.

You should be ok, the only car that I have heard use the horn was an early 98 S plater.

Non taken mate.. it pisses everyone off including yaself when it's honk
honk all the time ! don't think the neighbours coulda appreciated it..
didn't get anyone complainin' but think it'd got to me if it was
someone else !

Just enabled the lock/beep feature on mine (2001 Gti) and it works a treat, although I noticed that my 'lock horn sound' is 07 not 06, as for some reason I have 'INT MON' in between 04 and 05. Maybe something to do with the Interior Monitor sensors for the alarm?

Sorry to butt in here, but a fairly reliable guy tells me it's not possible on my car. It's a 2001 'Y' and he enabled the hijcak mode for me but reckoned that was about all he could do for me. This was a few months back and I don't have his contact details now to query him. Hmmm, from what's been said here, sounds like the guy I was dealing with was talking out of his rear??

Really want this bleep/chirp business as sometimes when i lock the car, i'm sure it isn't flashy (this could be my imagination here, but i'd like to lock it without having to watch for the lights going).

Reckon VW would charge a whack of $$ for this?? If so, it aint getting done. Suppose there's no harm in trying a few though. Stealers bring me out in cold sweats though - just seem to always get a smart arsed school leaver emptying my wallet everytime.......
