That's it i've had it with golfs and will NEVER own another one!

Had one rear bulb go a couple of months ago, before i even had a chance
to go to the garage to get a replacement the other went - had to put
the fog light on.

Having changed both of those, yesterday the rear of my car was in total
darkness! Apart from the number plate lights. I did however get spare
bulbs as i do a lot of motorway driving. Tested those but don't work
either. Is there a fuse or something just for the rear bulbs?? If not
any ideas?

Had car over 12 months and problem after problem.

i had the same problem with my rear bulbs, they kept blowing for no apparent reason, so i decided to replace all the rear bulbs with bosche ones and theyve been fine since, i guess the quality of the vw bulbs is a bit shite!

The amount of MKIV's you see driving around ith one light or brake light out is unreal compared to other cars.

I've had both mine go over the last year and also the offside number plate light and socket was just replaced last week (?4!!! nice!) - completely corroded! I know there is a problem with the brake switch but i put a lot down to the design of the rear as well. Those number plate lights are just asking to get clogged with crap.

Just wondering.....is it your brake lights that aren't working or your normal rear lights?

I know the feeling mate. When I bought the Golf I thought great a proper built car, no more flimsyness that the 306 had but I've had enough even after 18 months.

Recirculating fan is currently doing my head in. Sounds like I have a little toy man in the dash board tapping on his drum constantly. It drives me crazy!! []

Yes is the main tail lights which i changed a couple of months
ago. I'm always careful not to touch the bulbs either with bare
hands either.

I had a Peugeot before which are bad for electrical problems but this
is rediculous. I just keep getting people frantically flashing at
me thinking I haven't got my lights on.

So far i've had to change nearly all of the rear lights. I upgraded my front ones luckily enough!

But that's just the tip of the iceberg with the work that has been done
in 12mths. And because I use my car for work, the company get
decidedly twitchy when i'm without it. Got the clutch to repair
next!! Luckily I paid for the additional warranty which has saved me a
fortune.
