I had a great time this year. Finally took the helicopter ride round the circuit - excellent and worth the 78 euros imoho. I was walking out of the Chunnel's terminal building in Calais yesterday evening and started to look forward to next years event already.

So far I have resisted the urge to clean off the sacred HA dust from her body work but I expect that this w/e I shall cave in and give the girl a proper detailing inside and out.

She peformed faultlessly. Full of kit (and I mean full - the other car was an Elise) she managed an indicated 130mph (on a private French road) and shone through the twisty stuff.

Next year our plan is to go MTB'ing in the Alps the w/e before and then heading on to the circuit on weds/thurs.

I shall not be booking through Page and Moy again though. They performed abismally. Instead I will book the HA through the ACO directly, then the SeaCat crossing. I will get my ticket at the circuit as my cpd training entitles me to an NUS card I can get a general admission ticket on the gate for about ?25!

Roll on June 2007!

I'll try and post some pics soon.

Well, 2006 was my second year at Le Mans and it was awesome.

This year we managed to get around some of the other campsites and while Expo (where we stayed) may lack the wild atmosphere of Houx Annex - it was nice to be able to get away from it all and would still get my vote. The Danish company "Den Bla Avis" had reserved a section of the campsite and hosted live bands till the early hours. Their massive marquee had a proper bar, a restaurant and satellite tv coverage of the race and the football. Plus, they brought along the lorry trailer of showers again. Expo also allowed us to pitch the tents under the pig/cow sheds. This turned out to be a godsend Wednesday night when it completely lashed it down with rain as all of our tents and gear stayed perfectly dry. In fact we even managed to have a couple of beers while sat in deckchairs under the metal roof.

As for the rest of the weekend, Mad Friday was amazing. Drove down the Mulsanne and a bloke jumped infront of the R32 with a Belisha Beacon in his hand. The crowd then shouted for me to wind her up and blast off down the road. All good fun, so we parked up and joined them for an hour before continuing to Indanapolis/Arnage to gawp at some fabulous cars.

Houx Annex roundabout was hilarious although there was a bit too much naked man on show for my liking. The bloke redirecting dull cars with the keep right sign was hilarious......until he started redirecting nice cars too. The bloke in the classis GT40 was doing some lovely burnouts when the cretin forced him off the roundabout. Bloke in the S2000 had some skills but was bordering on terrifying and the guys with the Pirate Ship....well....pure genius.

The R32 was great....although the boot was as useless as ever. It sounded amazing through the Rouen tunnel. Also managed to average 29mpg and only spend about ?150 on fuel.

Couple of spotteds: R32 GUY (from Tyresmoke I think) and also M15 DST.

Indeed : Bring on 2007, when we'll be taking a van too !

My pics are at http://www.crunko.com .

2nd time this year too!! And just as awesome!!

Spotted M15 DST too, on sunday afternoon heading from Karting to Beausejour.

Heard of a few people getting some stuff nicked from tents, not confined to Bleu Nord either.

Cant wait for next year now!! McQueen was right when he said "Racing is life, everything else in between is just waiting!"

Great pics Spanner - would give any newbies a good flavour of what to expect - gutted I didn't go this year, but 2007 is already being planned and I am already joining the ACO in preparation.

Went the last 3 years, every time in Expo and I agree it ticks enough boxes and the Danes are great. Nice to see a pic of the Kronenbourg bar, always messy on the Sunday afternoon 5pm onwards!

I saw that retro powder blue 911 GT2 with the comedy wing 3 years ago - love it! [:D]

I had an absolutely cracking time and will be going again next year. I managed to not get sunburn, thanks to the gay-zebo. I must admit to being too drunk to watch a lot of the race, I fell asleep at 4 in the morning on the Tertre Rouge for a few hours dressed like a racing driver.

There were 23 of us, packed into a tiny camping area because we arrived on Friday - note to self, get there early next year.

Being entirely honest the racing did not interest me too much, although I did see 2 cars go off. It was the atmosphere and general car porn on display in the campsites that is making me go back next year. I did not spot any of you lot, although I saw a couple of modded Golfs around.

I will post some pictures soon.

Did anyone see the orange Lotus with the water canon on the roof driving around Arnage? It was a classic.

That Lotus was hilarious - top idea.

We had a few beer issues too. The weather was too hot for me at the start of the race, especially since we turned up about 2 1/2 hours before the start. So a couple of us retired to the beer tent at Dunlop....and the rest is history. Charlatans were a nice little distraction too but our group went through 150 cans of Kronenburg during the set - we discovered that the lovely lady operating a shop at the exit by Parking Rouge was a lot cheaper than the beer tents. Plus, she kept slinging more beers in the bag because we were buying so many !

loads of pics here for you all!!!

Had an awesome time it just seems to get better and better every year.

The dub made it, easily.

Loving the new Audi, awesome car. Seen a few nice dubs floating around. Didn't hear of anything getting nicked we were on Karting Nord, possibly looking to go over the other side next year, as we have spent the last 3 over this side.

Got a chase running through the forest, from the secruity when we sneaked down the mulsanne straight, seeing cars at top speeds is awesome, hearing them go through all the gears!!!

Bring on next year

Where did you get on to the straight from? I've had a casual look and can't see anywhere you can get thru without hassle with tree brances etc or f**kin gendarmerie!!!!!

lol trust me mate when theres a will theres away!!!

Like I said you have to go through loads of trees and stuff.

If you go to the bend at the start of the straight, and before going through where you have to show your ticket you will see loads of trees to the left. You go through there and up the hill and see some huge concetrate structure. You keep walking past that and basically its like a gravel foot path, you can hear all the cars flying past and you have to count the gear changes as soon as you hear them at full throtle you basically make your way through a few trees and your standing like 2 metres away from the track it is awesome. You need to do it around 2am, you will need a touch and jogging bottoms as some of the lads got a few cuts on their legs from running from secruity, as your not meant to be down there.

The year before we actually got caught, well gave ourselves up and the secruity just said go back go back so your not gonna get done or anything. (I don't think)

If you really do want to go down there, I don't mind meeting some of you lot before hand and taking you down there.

One of the lads that came with us works for Street Life TV and basically recorded the whole thing from going in the forest to running out the other end!!

We walked there on Sat night - From Houx Annex!! I don't reccomend it. Drive there instead or ride a bike - but remember your lights and that the edges of the country roads in France tend to have ditches next to them. We came accross one guy who had gone over his handle bars and smashed his head into the tarmac after drifting off the road slightly. Luckily my friends have basic First Aid training and we left him being taken to hospital. Although running to Arnage in my hiking boots to report it to a Gendarme gave me terrible blisters that I then had to walk back to HA on.

I'd be interested in a UKmkiv's.net nightime assault on the MS!

Seeing that vid reminded me that I never posted mine:

Tis about 6 mins long. First minute is the race (dull), rest of it is Mad Friday antics.

spanner - excellent video, i cant believe it - every where you went to film i was right where you were at the same time it would seem,..... i reckon i appeared in your vid a good few times although its abit fuzzy. what are the odds considering how busy it was.

That pirate ship bloke nearly killed me and my mates by the way well sort of, later in the eve he was throwing fireworks and bangers overboard at close bystanders and he did a drive by on us (have a vid of it) ******!

It's a bit weird seeing yourself in other people's videos isn't it? I was watching this one:

and all of a sudden spotted my R32 on the left hand side of the road !
