HELP!

I've just traded in my 115bhp gt tdi MK4 for a new (dealer
pre-registered) 05 plate MK5 MK5 gt tdi, flat black color.

Im a bit worried I've done the wrong thing as I didnt 100% think the interior of the new MK5 was as nice as my old MK4.

but hten again my MK4 was 5 years old and lookig a bit dated.

will the car grow on me ?, everyone keeps saying it a far better
car.....have I done the right thing ??? is flat black a good
color to go for?

Of course you have done the right thing.

Flat black will need taken care of to get the best from it. Have a look at the car detailing section. You'll want to invest in a decent wax to look after it. Flat black however when well waxed is the best looking car you can get IMO. I've got metallic black and it is not as difficult to keep looking clean as I had imagined, even over the winter. Mine gets washed by hand once a week and waxed once a month.

I like the interior of the mkV.

must say that I love mine - pearl black is easy to look after too. Have had an effortless trip to Co. Durham last week and got about 620 miles from the tank..sooo nice to drive. The only thing I don't like is the "service" dept at my dealer

well its not too late to change the color! they still have a reflex silver, but my MK4 was this color and I wanted a change.
Much as I like silver cars if I were you I'd bite the bullet & go for black.

Is the car standard or does it have any extras? You saving much by buying pre-reg?

I think the interior will grow on you, it has me. I too have taken some convincing with the Mk5, the usual stuff, too tall, too big, cheaper plastics inside, but you have to consider the competition and look at the whole package - things have changed and interior quality does not seem to feature so highly with the majority of manufacturers - just take a look in the new 1 series BMW for a good comparison.

The 2.0tdi is a step forward in many ways and the chasis a different league, when you are enjoying your performance and handling so much I dont think you will question your decision :)

Colour wise thats personal choice but if you can put the effort into caring for it Blacks the one, good car, good choice IMO.

have just noticed your signature, Spin - your car is due tomorrow ! How excited are you ?!!
Well after my little 'colour crisis' over the weekend I am now soooo excited. Finding it hard to concentrate at work, slept crap, hands are sweaty - just like being a kid on christmas eve !!

The Mrs is away tomorrow night with work when I pick it up so I will probably just drive around all night - that or drive it home and fall asleep exhausted from all this excitement !!

Just 29.5 hrs to go.....

tdi_man it seems a lot of people go from silver to black - I'm sure it'll grow on you... You WILL notice the dirt shows up much more on the black than the silver (which hides most of it - especially that filth in the rain!), but when it's clean and shiny, by god it looks s*** hot! [:D]

Went from a silver mk4 gt tdi to diamond black mk5 golf gti... It needs washing a bit more often, but I love it to bits [:D]

this is part of the reason I'm having second thoughts!

my mk4 was lowered, BBS alloys, votex kit, a real head turner.....now
the mk5 is standard and it will just cost more money to add bigger
wheels etc....
