That is definitely a pile of cack, my fav part is the roof vent [:S] lol

There was a time when I would have loved an Astra GTE 16v though, [:$] without a doubt the coolest bit was http://darrenbearne.tripod.com/SP_A0016.jpg

infact I would probably still have one now.. [8-|]
I had a F reg 16v back in 1991

Lovely car...

In the day there wasnt anything like it. I had sold the GTI for the GTE because of the 16v engine and 150bhp.

There wasnt any real 16v engine on the market those days.

The only downside was it didnt handle like the golf GTI

Cheers. It was my pride and joy, and not a bad car to buy and insure at 19...

I don't know if I'd have another one, bit long in the tooth now, but great car, and only one thing went wrong in 18 months, and that was only a perished hose...

Would still show most 'hot hatches' how to do it, 15 years on from its hey day.

Yes I would agree.

Owned mine when I was 19 and had it 3 years. It only lost me 2K and never went wrong apart from a water pump and hose from the fuel tank.

When they first came out I really wanted one and 2 years later could afford one

man the insurance must have been rediculous at 19... I was still at college so would not have been able to afford one anyway on my wages from Mr Tesco..

?1000 TPFT. Pretty reasonable I thought for a 19YO with 2 years NCD on a modified 16v (Group 16 insurance...)

Oh boy did I have fun in it.

And when I sold it I actually made money. Its still going around locally to me 'nall

It was 16 years ago mate

no-one would take you seriously driving that thing. Here we have a typical example of modifying gone horribly wrong! lol

Will be interesting to see what it finishes at!
