After the truimpht slaughter of an XKR by Wilko I go and lose to an Astra...

Picture the scene.. Dual carriageway MK4 Astra in front with loud exhaust - not sure what model. Traffic clears in front and we both put our foot down. He gains a little then we slow down whilst slower cars pull over in front. Then @ 75mph he drops a gear I drop a gear & we're off. After a 1/4 of a mile he's opened quite a gap.GUTTED [:(]. What makes it worse he does a hand gesture (as he pulls over to come off @ next jct) as though he's blowing something of his hand. [B)][:(]

There's only one thing for it... A remap & Miltek exhaust. Just got to convince the misses.

Do the two combination make such a different over a stock 1.8T??

Lucky you werent racing for pinks!

LOL

Imagine if you'd of won!?!?

lol! what shape/reg of astra is the mk4?

It was a hatchback can't rem the reg. Just hoping it was a G.S.I not a 2.2, otherwise I'd have to sell the Golf and get a Mondeo estate with brown seats & roof rack [:D]

LOL, You guys are right.....winning the race and getting ownership of the astra would have really let the side down!

It's always a bit disheartening to lose to a shed of a car... i remember getting spanked by a chavved up old Cavalier in my GTI.... i was gutted (note it didnt last much longer after that!!).

I had a funny incident the other night.... i came onto a section of dual carraigeway from a 40 section... blitzed upto 70 and dropped into 6th. I'd had this BMW sitting behind me and in the other lane whilst i was doing this, disappearing in my mirror, but obviously as soon as i whacked it into top, my speed kinda steadied. anyway, a couple of seconds later, this horrendously loud old 3-series 'roars' past me, cuts right in front of me, two flashes of the hazards and waves to me as he races away.

I'm sorry, i wasn't aware i was racing you! Toolbag.

Lol that happens to me so much. It can be so tempting to rise to the bait after that happens but i usually just smile to myself and let them get on with it.

I was laughing to myself... i was in shock more than anything as i'd never experienced anything quite like it! I didn't think flashing your hazards at people happened in anything other than Need For Speed Underground!! [:D]
