You won't be saying that after you've owned it for a while and have to suffer VW's first class attempt at crap Customer Service.[!] you don't have a bottle opener right now, well I hate to tell you this but it is just going to get a whole lot worse!

Dunno what this whole thread is about, but I have to defend VW Customer Services. I have had problems (all new cars do!) and i have recieved a decent response to all my problems, some of which were a lot worse than others (failed TDI Turbo on day one of ownership!!) and always recieved a satisfactory conclusion [^]

I am sure I am not alone, but then I dont have high expectations when it comes to any customer service... this is Rip Off Britain after all [)]

I would like to defend VW as well. My first car had a fault on delivery and it was rejected and the dealer accepted without question. They gave me another brand new mkV golf to use for the 10 weeks my replacement car took to deliver.

The letters I wrote to the dealer were copied to Customer services and they called me to acknowledge receipt of my letters and also wrote to me as well.

I know some people have had poor service but I've been delighted so far.

You lucky sod. I suppose I have got VW Assist on my car although I could not produce any paperwork or membership card to prove that as they never sent me anything and that is well over two months since taking delivery of my new car.

I have given up phoning my garage concerning this matter and even phoning customer services with all their promises has proved useless.

Oh, well at least I've got a phone number and still have full AA membership running concurrently and so sod VW's customer service as well!!

I'd phone VW Assistance if I were you. When I transferred my personal plate on I rang them up to tell them and they changed the reg over but never sent me a new card with the new reg. on.

I chnaged to a private plate, told VW Assist and got no new card as well. However, I have taken the private plate off the car now and when I told VW Assist, they could not find the car under the new plate, it was still on the old one. I asked the woman what would have happened, and she just said it would have been a lot of phones calls needed to sort it out. They could not even find me under my address.

"All new cars have faults" - not true. Our last five new cars had not a single fault either at delivery or in the year that we ran each of them. We visted the dealers twice in all but in each case only for the routine forst service. For a CLK 320 it was ?230, for the Golf IV, it was ?72 by the way. For the other three cars we sold them even before they needed the first service.
