Interesting find for your amusement guys....

02 Bora V6 2.8 4Motion

Posted Image

Reflex silver, 7,500 miles, Black Leather Recaros... Nice car, like the spec (and it has the wheels I was thinking of buying already fitted) but the price is £18,995!!!. Heres me thinking modifications reduced the value of your car... As most examples of this age /spec are up for £16,000 before you beat them down for being such an unpopular car, they must be off their heads! Think they'd mind if I offered them £14,000? [;)]

Anyways if you see a Bora 4Motion for sale please let me know...I am sick of staring at the same not-quite-right 9 cars on Autotrader / 6 on www.vw.co.uk [:(]...it MUST have leather Recaros and nobody say '1.8T' as

A) I need the V6 growl and B) They are generally in demand, hence more expensive despite lesser spec!

Although I've been told by VW stealers that the 1.8t is only 0.06 seconds slower in the 0-60, I tend to disagree. I own a bora 2.8 vr6, and must say, it's pretty damn fast! Unfortunetly, they don't offer 4 motion on any car except the passat here. I don't know my exact 0-60, but I do know that I waxed my m8s impreza WRX last week in a 0-60. But he's claiming turbo-lag, and that he'd beat me to 100, which I'm sure he would.

19,000 is A LOT for that car. thats like $28,500?!?!?!?!? Are they sick?!?!?!? I mean, I paid $17,500 for mine, but then again, it is a more popular car here. BLAH! Leather recaros, huh? Do they say recaro on them anywhere? I was looking at my leather just yesterday wondering if they were recaros or not, they defo have a nice look to them, but they don't hug as much as i want.

Homegrown, three things!:

A) Leather Recaros are completey different seats - they have different side support, lumbar etc and Recaro stitiched into the backrest, and solid rather than ugly loopy headrests as I would otherwise get (think Beetle...thats the Boras stock headrests for cars 2000-2003. I love the Recaros but they are a £1900 option new

B) Dont forget that the VR6 Jetta is a much chaper car - as we get ripped new! The list price of a V6 4Motion with the Recaros is closer to $31,000. Id quite happily buy the US spec car if it were offered though...especially if we had your fuel prices!

C) Your sig is over our limits - the deadline for changing it was last Friday (see announcements). Could you please change it we may have to issue a level 1 warning - again see announcements. Cheers!

Walrus, you have a point! Its been advertised a long time and Im looking to do a deal in the next couple of weeks, so perhaps I shall try...'take it or leave it' offer, not expecting them to go for it anyway! [;)]

Dont think like that, do you want the car ? if so go for it really push them to give you the best deal they can it sounds like they are having trouble shifting it at that price point so you never know maybe not £14,000 but I reckon they would take a couple of grand off it has cost them probably that just to keep it on the forecourt for that amount of time, plus they would hav ebought it second hand and paid them well under retail value.

Go get em kid show no remorse !!! Destroy them sorry lost it a bit [:I]

mike, i was just browsing autotrader earlier and saw that, but as you well know its been on there for quite a while, some mug will come along at some point and buy it. I'm not saying its not a nice car, it is a very nice car, but not at that price !!!

I prefer the sound of the other silver one, 02, longbeaches + leather for £14k private ?? sounds like a much better deal all things considered, although obviously not from a dealer.

Walrus: Oh absolutely mate, Im certainly not paying full price for a Bora 4Motion as dealers have such a hard time shifting them - Im not gonna make life easy for them! The Scooby dealer near me has a black one, 02 reg, 17k miles, black leather Recaros up for £15,999. Driven it and its as new, so as soon as I know where I stand with mine (should be sold in about a fortnight...fingers crossed!) I was gonna offer £14k FIRM. No more though because it doesnt have Xenons or parking sensors, and its the limit of my budget!

Pat: Is that the one also on Autotrader? And Is it JAZZ blue? There is one on Autotrader thats actually Mercato Blue judging by the picture - same as mine - but listed as Jazz blue with 30,000 miles for under £10k...nice car and its got S3 alloys too but no Recaros. But I shall take a look at the PVW listing, cheers mate!

Bora 02: Yeah that sounds about right but I dont want silver as nearly all of them are! Just holding out for the right one...

I have just been looking at various VW dealer adverts in a newspaper and most of the Golfs were well overpriced. Especially considering the imminent arrival of the mk5. My local VW dealer is asking £12000 for W reg 1.8Ts..their not even low mileage either.

First off, sorry about the sig...and thanks for the heads up. I haven't seen anything on changing them by a specific date....What are the requirments? Is the new one O.K?

**EDITED** I saw the link about reducing sig size and the deadline to do so, and I am still a little confused... The photo I was using meets the requirements (100x121, and 20.8 kb) but the resolution may be my prob. How do I find out the resolution of the photos?

Also, My seats do have descent side supports, as well as a lumbar support. The headrests are solid leather. However, there are no Recaro stitching anywhere. But, supposedly, my 97 GTI has Recaro seats, cloth, but they also do not say Recaro on them.

And you want nothing to do with our cheap 87-93 octane fuel. My car could run better off my own urine!

Pat and Liquorice, thanx guys. Not a fan of Jazz Blue, a shame because that is one cheap car - would forsake the Recaros for £9,895! Is this the car? It looked like mine in the pic, Mercato Blue. Mobile number on the add matches.

Homegrown,

Regards your sig, the requirment is at 800x600 resolution (which the forum is designed for) so thats the level at which you should check your sig size. Right now its too big [;)]

Regards the seats, TRUST ME, they arent Recaro. OEM VW Recaros arent offered in the US market and theres about 1000 guys on VWVortex trying to get some for their cars...you probably have the sports seats, which offer good support and are next up from base (especially as yours is a VR6).

As for gas, I dont care if its 87 or 93, try nearly $5 a gallon here! [;)]
