Whilst technically single DIN, i think it has special mounts. I'm sure it could be done, its just a case of trying.

You would need to extend the wiring and find someway to fix into a space higher up.
It is screwed into the gap where it is now, and there arent any screw holes higher up.

oh right where it is now its abit odd being so low down,id rather the cd thing at the bottom with the head unit in the middle or something is it a pain in the arse taking that part of the dash apart
If you got a spare cage im sure it wouldnt be too hard to move the fixing points for the cc & the cd player around. Then you would just need to extend the wiring.
Bare in mind, if the CD player is down the bottom, you would have difficulties changing disc whilst in gear.
I've seen a picture on an mk4 with this done, I'd try to find the pic but it would take me hours.
