It is worth it, I was paying ?1945 for my M3 when I was 23 - now that hurt but the car was worth it, then when I changed to my 51 plate Range ROver it went down to ?850 - the Rangie being worth 40k - so work that out!?!?!?!?

Hard to put a value on insurance - Seems a bit random.

My mk2 GTi 8V was group 14, yet my Saxo VTR (about as quick) was group 7!

Apparently the R32 is a bit of a tricky one and sort of fits into it's own category.

Can afford it for now but it still hurts a bit.

Tom - How the HELL did you own an M3 aged 23?! Loaded parents or are you an internet whizz?!

Have you tried brentacre they are another specialist on VW's herts insurance brokers is the only other company I can think of

I used to be with Brentacre when I had the Mk 3. They were one of the most expensive quotes I received when I bought the R32 though because they said they only really deal with older cars.

Elephant were the cheapest for me for the R32 - 25 years old, 3 points, Protected No Claims, 8 years NCB, 2 named drivers - ?690!

Thats odd as I have a 2001 1.8t chipped coilovers wheels different bumpers exhaust and a few other goodies and they came in with the best quote of ?730 9yrs ncb no points off street parking etc.

I have heard Herts use that excuse before about not doing newer cars did they even try and match the price ?
