Good Man Adam - forget that Diesel idea!

As long as you don't intend to modify it then Elephant/Admiral seem to offer reasonable quotes on Golfs. But beware of the points raised elsewhere in this forum about their modification policy!

Otherwise have you tried Greenlight? Neil is a member of this forum and he was very helpful when I arranged my new policy last week.

Cheers - hope you get sorted soon!

Have you tried direct line? I found them to be the cheapest to insure my CTR when I was 23 with no no-claims and having just passed my test. Just keep trying, you'll find somewhere eventually.

There is nothing wrong with diesels Adam and the fuel savings will help you to pay for the insurance!! Also try Brentacre for insurance quote.

I have had my fair share of high quotes. At 27 the only merit is seems to be kind insurance companies. When looking around for car's I wanted the 4 motion, but having found yr2000 2.0l bora with 24k at 5grand I had to buy it (free motering for 2 years!), anyway my insurance quotes with no claims (I have been driving on company insurance.

2.0l Bora 260pounds actual

2.3l V5 Bora/Golf 350 quote

I will add I live in a very good postcode area, when neighbours have moved here from town centres they have seen price drops of 70%.... so this could account for my luck, not just my increasing old age. (pass the zimmer)

Got a good quote from Morethan recently.

Best tip is to spend an evening (or three) on the internet getting quotes from every single insurance company that google can turn up.

It's amazing how much quotes from the same company can vary from person to person, even if they have similar ages/cars/experience.
