Does anyone know how to run a wire from the *** lighter to the front grill? Or know where there are any how to's boost gauge etc.

For political reasons, I am installing an air horn. ;)

Cheers

Easy peasy, as I've done this when installing my 'air horn' hehehehehe

Follow the 'air horn' wiring along the 'bonnet release' cable which
runs along the front of the grill, and down the driver's side of the
engine bay.

You then need to take off the windscreen plastic scuttle panel (to do
this you have to unbolt both wiper arms - sometimes this is a pain in
the ass)

Lift off the scuttle panel, and u will see a rubber grommet or
two. Poke a coat hanger thru the grommet, and feed your
airhorn wire through.

Next u have to remove the driver's side lower dashboard plastics.
You need a torx screwdriver here. (tip - get an electric
screwdriver - it will save u sooo much time!) Once you've removed
the lower panels, you will be able to see the grommet+wire that you've
pushed thru.

Pull the wiring thru, make it all nice and tidy using zip ties and electrical tape :)

If u want, you can take power/earth/ignition from the relays underneath
the steering column. This saves u having to use the ciggy lighter!

Job done. 1 hour max

Good luck, and let me know if u need any further help :)

Mate you are a star, thankyou.

I've eyeballed it out again and I think I can run the wire to the cig lighter from there, Ive found the grommit you mention. The switch is begging to be positioned in the cig lighter as the moulding fits perfect, it even has clips so it will just click into position and stay put. Slide the tray lid back......STEALTH with easy access to on/off button. The buzzer which reminds me that have an air horn, I think can go where the relays are.

The dash panel you mention is it easy to put back on and remove or are there any sneaky screws?

Curious though where is your switch for your 'cough' air horn.

It's really easy to undo the lower dash panels..

Open drivers door. U need to yank out the black panel which
covers the fuse box, not just the fuse box lid, but the complete side
of the dash!

Don't worry, it's only clipped in. It can't break - I promise!

Stick you head under the steering wheel, and u will see maybe 3 or 4
torx screws holding panels in. Undo these.

This will allow the lower dash panels to come off.

Then you might need to undo a few more panels to allow you to get under the steering column area so u can do your wiring.

Again it's just a matter of undoing all the torx screws, there
must be around 12 in total. (this is why an electric screwdriver
saves so much time!)

Once you've done this, you can easily run the cable along the bottom of
the dash, along the centre console, then into the ashtray for your
button.

Personally I haven't got a switch fitted on mine.. I've hard wired it to come on/off with the ignition.

However the airhorn went off for the very first time (in two years)
this week, so I'm gonna be mounting a switch underneath the
steering column somewhere.

To save on the wire length on reaching your *** lighter, why not power
it from your fuse box, then install a discreet switch under the trim
panel so you can switch it on and off ?

If you need some pics on how to get the scuttle pannel off, I can highly recommend Foxy's cruise control guide

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dgace/wiring_-_outside.htm

On a side note, does any one know where I can get a LCR100 air horn to
Road Angel 2 interface ? I have been waiting over 4 months for a
replacement for the orginal faulty one, and the company suppling are
still unable to locate a replacement.

Not sure where u can get RA2-->LRC looms, but why bother at all?

Reason I said this is because I've read that the looms can sometimes have a negative effect on the LRC's performance.

I was told this by the dealer that I bought my LRC from. He told
me to not bother using the loom, and hard wire the bugger in.

He reckons the looms can sometimes cause problems which obviously isn't
ideal when u need the airhorn to work at 'that' precise moment.

GTI FLY,

You where right about the yank, it's on the 'yanking limit' where you think your going to break it you just have to have faith. Ok didn't want to spend to much time on it this evening it being friday and all, but heres where I'm up to:

Got the 'cough' air horns fixed to the grill (2no.just below either side of the reg plate) using wire ties for now until I can think of a better way to fix them. Got the wire through the fire wall. Taken off all the required casing (4no). Removed the cig lighter and housing. Checked the loom length, it's long enough, just. Wipers nearly made me cry.

Took lots of pics throughout. Neighbours now think I'm weird - taking pictures of my car as I'm pulling it to pieces and swearing alot whilst swinging on the 'wind scream wipers'.

Thats it for this evening took about 1hr 20mins 45mins and lots of Stella, swearing and WD40 to remove windscreen wipers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let you know how the rest goes. Got to modify the cig lighter a little to take the switch, it will all be worth it in the end.

Chat to you all soon, thanks all for the info.
