Immobiliser activated.....

Hi guys.

I recived a new case for my VW Bora key as the old one was quite worn and in tatty condition.

Just replaced the case, pretty much just swapped it, went out to try. Car locks/unlocks as usual, when i go to start it, "Immobiliser actived appears and the car doesn't start. [:(]

Any ideas on what to do next? I gave it a search, but couldn't find enough info on this.

Thanks guys, and Merry Christmas!

Have you used your existing transponder chip? Take the badge off then you will see a philips screw to seperate the key where the transponder is situated.

Be very aware that the transponder chip is made with a glass shell which will break if forced. It looks like a small pill.
I found you sometimes need to warm them up to soften the glue they held in with. Sounds like you haven't swapped the little chip over in the top half of the key

Excellent, cheers guys.

Thanks for the link, instead of taking the chip out and risking breaking it, I'll keep it in there and change the other bits. [:)]
Opened the old keys back up, the pill/chip came straight out like it wasn't glued!

So I've placed it into the new keys, works perfect!

Cheers guys [:)]
haha, must be my Christmas luck! [:)]
