Immo3 ecu in an immo2 car

Hi,

i want to put this ecu

038 906 019 FG

in my car as I now have an ASZ engine (2003) and this seems to be the recomended ECU to control it.

I and pretty sure my car is immo2 and that this ecu is immo3 so i presume that my clocks will have to be immo3 as well.

Can anyone confirm this?

Can anyone confirm if i will need to do anything else to get the immo working (i would prefere not to defeat the immo).

Does anyone have any better suggetions for ECUs or any other comments?

many thanks

Hi mate

yes you could put it in but you would need to turn off the immobiliser in the ECU to make it work

drop you a PM if you need help
No way to keep it working?

No one knows of a good (for tuning) ecu for ASZ that is immo2?

Thanks for the replys guys.. i know it's a bit blurry today[:S]
If you want to keep the immobiliser then you will need to swap the cluster as well to match but drop RAy (aRd) a PM, he will explain it all to you [y]
The reason you'll not find an immo2 ecu for the 130 asz engine is because it simply does not exist. All the asz engines used immo3.

My ASZ uses a tuned ecu with the part number 038 906 019 HJ

Ah! That explains a thing or to.

Even more interesting. I Might have one of those...russle russle somewhere.

I bought one a year or so ago had no luck with the immo (prob because of the immo2cluster) then got fixated on it needing the FG ecu that fenwick used in his conversion.

Out of interest do you have any idea what the difference are between those 2 ecus?

thanks[Y]
the FG one is the earlier one, HJ is the later one, then you've got one later than them.
Right so if it turns out that i have the HJ then this would not be considored the bum ECU then? Later = better?
I don't think there are any major problems with either ECU.
As a test, have you tried using the emegency start function in the cluster (google immo2 emegency start).
Right goggleg this.

No i havent tried this. It was a long time ago when i got this ecu and tried to fit. I would need to get skc using vag tacho in order to try this i presume?

First things first. i have moved house since i got this so will be a mission just to find the bugger. Then once i know what it is i'll be able resume this!

Thanks guys and ray i'll give you a bell when i unearth my ECU[Y]

Oh and aham_uk would this procedure you mentioned (immo2 emergency start) would that be any use if the ecu is indeed immo3?
think about this regarding the immo 3 ecu

simple way of explaining, what happens,

the clocks send a signal to the ECU, check to see if the VIN match in the ECU with clocks, then check the key transponser matches the clocks, all that matches it starts up

as I've said either detransponsder the immo 3 ecu to use with the immo 2 clocks

or fit a set of immo 3 clocks and match ecu and keys

I've done the above plenty of times.

no problem, you can still give me a call we can go through the options what you need etc to get this all sorted.

Thanks mate. That makes it all nice n clear.

I'll have to find my other ecu then i'll give you a bell. Any time of day better for calling you?

In the mean time i might have a look around for some immo3 full fis clocks.

anytime, if I don't answer leave txt msg. Depends what I'm doing at work

evening would be better
Hello, pls help me out. My AJM engine seized. Now replaced with ASZ. Currently running BORA sport Clock (full Fis) with My AJM Immo2 ECU. Wanted to adapt ASZ immo3 ECU (ending FG) but no luck. Error message on VCD says "malfunction".
