I reckon they are one of the most ugly cars on the road! Don't like them and never have, but wouldnt turn anyone down who wanted to give me a drive in one (thats a big hint for when you get yours! [:p]), they must be fabulous to drive.

Different strokes and all that [:)] Porsche to me are the ultimate car.
But i guess it works on the flip side as Astons do nothing for me yet
other people will wonder if i'm ok in the head!

Beautiful in black would half consider doing jail time to own one..............

The 911 pictured here was overshadowed by something even more special though. A real treat to see cars like that driven in anger.

Other VAG cars? I know there has historically been a degree of cross pollination between Porsche and Volkswagen but not that much.

Some early porsches were called notch back, i guess it's so called because of the rear diffuser you see in the pic, I think i'm right [:^)]
These cars don't have a diffuser, they fit under the car, aerodynamics weren't that advanced in the 70s - I think you mean the spoiler which was christened 'ducktail' by many, before they changed to the later 'tea tray' type.

Notchback is an american term for a hatchback (I think?)

Sorry to sound picky, it's the pedant in me that surfaces sometimes[;)]

The notchback is the VW type 3, the saloon version - i.e the one with the boot.

There was the Fastback (sloped to the rear end), Notchback (with boot like a Bora) and Squareback (estate).

"they don't make them like this anymore"

So I guess you haven't noticed that the 911 looks exactly the same today [:p] [;)]

This is what really bugs me, they look the same.... every generation
its just slightly tweaked. ffs push the boat a bit and do something
different!

The only Porsche I've really yearned for, and I'm sure I'll buy one eventually is the 356.

The new 911 looks nothing like that! Well, ok there are similarities
but that design has so much more class and much nicer lines to it.

HUGE fat rear end and lovely nose.

Like they say, 'if it aint broke, don't fix it' [:D]

Agreed... the new 911s are a lot different as theyve gradually evolved, why make drastic changes when you get it right first time!

I cant post pics on here so someone else post more now!
