Where would you start. What are your top priorities to get sorted

What would you change, introduce, abolish, stop etc

What are the most important issues for you, and how would you go about them?

For me:

Immigration - It stops here and now, unless they have something to offer. Whilst, as a developed and prosperous nation we should help those less fortunate, it has got to the point now where we have made ourself a target and its out of control. People are taking the **** because we are a soft touch. With immigration both legal and illegal, has come spiralling crime, both organised and street. We can still contribute to helping, but not on our own doorstep. Thats what foreign aid and the UN is for. Why should hardworking people have to fund immigrants, some of which have no intention of paying their way back in taxes or services. This burden on our great country is getting a bit much now. The recent influx of EU people, whilst it fills menial jobs, also keeps other peoples wages down due to competition, and low income families are now up against it.

Terrorism. Whilst it goes under the banner largely of immigation (I am no racist but its not christian people who are blowing things up...) it is the factions of Islam who are hell bent on taking over the west, hence why were are an easy target. Why do we have to be in Iraq/Afgan sorting things out. Why are we getting involved in matters and wars that are not our fault, concern or problem, only accentuating hate against us by certain countries and religions. Isnt it a better idea to defend ourselves if and when trouble comes knocking, rather than trying to play the hero and getting involved in things we don't need to, only making things worse? People are losing their lives because of this. We have enough war to sort out in this country without trying to help every other Tom Dick and Harry.

Chavs, scroungers and layabouts. If you do not want to work, then why should you be entitled to payouts and council houses? Why should people be given the option not to pull their weight whilst others work their arses off to get by? This extends to the breed of morons who chuck out kids like a conveyor belt knowing that they will be given money and a home for nothing. People need to be told that this is not acceptable, to not be interested in getting an education and expecting to sit back and be supported through life. Some people cant afford to start families and deliberately hold off. Surely people should be more responsible and take responsibility for their actions and mistakes at their own expense?

Crime. Harsh, no ifs or buts penalties on certain crimes. Decent sentences for carrying an offensive weapon, assault, drug dealing, wounding, rape, murder, theft, fraud, identity theft, kiddy porn etc. Money taken out of supporting immigrants could be better used tackling and funding this, and heavy, no quibble sentences might get it into peoples heads that they cant do these things. Making the right for law abiding people to live without fear rather than being on the side of criminals human rights? Make criminals sell their assets or work in the community for free, doing menial and horrible jobs, to pay back whatever they have taken and teach them a lesson.

Police. More powers to deal with things rather than tiptoe round rules and human rights and have to fill in never ending and pointless paperwork to justify what they are doing. More bobbies on the beat to make people feel safer, more cops on the road to catch dangerous and bad driving and speeding, rather than using speed cameras do their job and persecute people doing a few MPH over the speed limit and using that as a means of revenue from those who are already paying their way.

ASBOs. Making silly little children pay for making others lives a misery by putting more pressure on parents to control their kids, be it with stricter discipline or education from them or suitable punishment by the courts. I find it amazing that gangs can run estates or areas and terrorise these places they ply their drunken trade and the police are virtually powerless.

NHS. Again, another service that is suffering due to lack of funding and people who have no right to be using it abusing it. Money saved could be spent here to make the whole thing better. Less pen pushers and health and safety white collars, more nurses and doctors left to get on with their job of helping people.

Education. Supporting bright people who want to learn and educating those that don't as to why they need to be educated, and making them aware that if they have no intention of going anywhere or being anybody, then they must support themselves off their own back. Allow teachers the right to punish rude, unruly or disobedient children, and be a pillar of respect and authority, rather than someone who is ultimately powerless at the moment to do anything for fear if being taken to court.

Brussels. Actually turning round and telling them to stuff their crap. We pay them billions and in most cases, for what. Why are we funding French farmers and ignoring our own. Why are we allowing them to tell us and force us how to run our country? Keep the pound, keep our sovereignty and keep our dignity.

Whilst I understand that the answer to the above issues simply isnt as simple as I write it, there are things that can be implemented to help clean up this country, and make it a place where hard working honest people can get on with their lives without fear, hurt or worry, and ultimately make it more prosperous rather than carrying the burden of things we really shouldnt be. A place where people can pay less tax, or at least know that that tax is being used constructively to help those who are paying it. I could happily go on forever but I'd rather give others a chance to voice their opinions, thoughts and concerns.

So what are your thoughts and policies then?

Nicely thoguht out [y]

One addition I can think of - tell Brussels to wipe their rear end on the Human Righst Act. A SERIOUS overhaul would at lamest help situations, tho to be honest, scrapping it wouldn't go amiss. We've lived the last god knows how many years without it after all....

Don't get me wrong I'm not religious at all but all this talk lately of them changing christmas/easter etc because it offends other religions is pish. No non essential business open of the likes of boxing day.

Spot on. We have gone out of our way to accomodate other religious only for them to take the piss in some cases. I can cope with accepting their religions and intregating them into society, but then trying to interfere with our customs and religious ways because it upsets them, sorry but that is a no no.

Anyone remember when at school, the Jewish kids who not only had XMAS off even though they didnt celebrate it, but also at least a week in term time to celebrate a festival or something? Would parents be allowed to turn around and take their kids out of school and on holiday that week if they were Christian...?

Transport - Turn the UK motorways into Autobahn's [:D]
All very well, but it is only safe and practical on certain stretches of road, and would require the education of old gribbers that they cannot simply pull out into the fast lane without looking at 62.2mph and gain speed thereafter at a rate of 1mph per 10 seconds...

But seeing as the national speed limit goes back to an age when people used drum brakes all round to stop, and given the advances of modern cars, 100mph is a more sensible bench mark, with certain stretches of derestricted.

Also, on transport, with regards to designing cars to be pedestrian friendly in the event of contact, have I missed something. I thought that they made pavements for pedestrians and roads of cars? My personal opinion is that if you do not have a tax disc, you do not have right of way on a public road, including people. We have traffic lights and zebra crossings. If poeple cant be bothered to use them then on their head be it. They certainly aren't insured in the event that they cause damage to someones car as the result of their own ignorance are they?

Just a quick reply as I couldn't be arsed reading all of it...See in text

Immigration - The recent influx of EU people, whilst it fills menial jobs, also keeps other peoples wages down due to competition, and low income families are now up against it.

So what do you suggest, build an iron curtain around the UK to stop ANYONE getting in? That is so closed minded - don`t forget that a lot of UK citizens live and work abroad and "bring wages down due to competion", which is utter bollocks I might add. And then what, stop importing any type of goods?

The truth is we need to "barter", we need to import goods/people/cultures as much as we need to export them. Don't be a fascist please.

Brussels. Actually turning round and telling them to stuff their crap. We pay them billions and in most cases, for what. Why are we funding French farmers and ignoring our own. Why are we allowing them to tell us and force us how to run our country? Keep the pound, keep our sovereignty and keep our dignity.

Although I agree that the CAP is a bit of a nonsense, and it would require a LOT of revisions in order to work well, I'm afraid your dear Queen is as much to blame as Brussels is.

Do you know how many members of the Royal family, even those very remotely related to the Queen, benefit from the CAP? Any 4th degree cousin of the Royal Family, any little Lord gets a nice big plot of land given to them..And what do you think they do with the land? They plant a few carrots and get all the money from Bruxelles that, incidentally, comes from our tax. The Queen and her family are amongst the highest receivers of CAP allowances in the UK!

I like most of Bazkings thinking to be honest and would vote for him too.

Have to say though his point about if you dont have road tax, you dont belong on the road - is laughable - unless he means vehicles which should be licensed but are not and therefore illegal.

I would add a few though.

Make taking a second European language obligatory at school from an early age. It is terrible the Brits are so ignorant in assuming everyone will just speak their language.

Ban smoking while in a car (driver or passenger).

Re-invest all money from motorists and fuel duty in to Public Transport and make the UK public transport system the envy of the world. Subsidise fuel in areas where public transport is not available or not in abundance.

Bring back capital punishment. Recommended sentences would have to be served. All judges given a reality check.

Re-organise the legal system so that it is much more efficient and removes the gravy train for the scourge known as the legal profession. This would save the country millions.

Remove the TV license.

Increase tax on cigarrettes/cigars and tobacco by 100%. Smoking causes cancer. Cancer costs the NHS millions.

Make it law that press, tv etc become impartial with regard to news, sport etc. Introduce laws to stop press interference in personal lives unless it is to make people aware of a Perv/Sex pest etc in the neighbourhood.

Remove all funding to the Royal Family.

Realign MP's pay with that of the average Nurse/Teacher and Ministers in line with Doctors. All of their payrises in line with all public sector workers thereafter. Expenses reduced to the minimum. Flights only given in national emergency. No taxis paid for. Buses/trains to be used only and second class tickets. If it is good enough for the electorate, it is good enough for the elected.

Remove all road Safety (speed) cameras and increase Policing on the roads by at least 1000% to catch unsafe drivers/driving. Mobile cameras would only be used to catch dangerous/careless/inconsiderate driving.

Remove inheritance tax. The extermely wealthy do not pay it anyway.

Scrap all plans for new Nuclear Power. It is a quick fix at the expense of our remote areas and future generations.

Reduce links with the USA. Work with other countries to condemn their blatent disregard for energy conservation and/or the environment.

Legalise prostition and hard core sex films but keep it well regulated like Holland. Stiff punishment for non-regulated vendors. This is an industry that would break old school British stiff upper lip and would generate a lot of income.

Zero tolerance drug policy. Increase punishment for all drugs offences. Drug addicts given 3 chances to clean up. 4th chance = Jail for a long time. They will be off drugs by the time they re-enter society.

Invest in health promotions and sports to make the country healthier, thinner and more competitive in the world stage.

Bored now, but I have others!

I don't always agree with what you say fella, but there's some good stuff in there [:)]

C

PS - re the autobahn suggestion, we don't have safe enough roads to derestrict them - however upping the limit a bit wouldn't go amiss. At the same time thougrh, we'd have to fix the middle lane crap, and ban lorries/trailor'd vehicles from overtaking - it only takes 3 of them - one on the inside lane, to grind a motorway to a standstill!

No, I dont suggest that, but I do suggest tighening up such a lax immigration system that is now seeing thousands of immigants a week flocking here to work legally. These people are prepared to work for peanuts because not only do they immediately have a better quality of life, they are also earning, in equivilent to their home country, a fortune. Hence £3.00 an hour to us sounds terrible, but to people who would earn £10 a week for harder work it is the business. Mimimum wage? That is the last thing employers consider when they can half their labour costs through the back door...Even at minimum wage they fill jobs that could and should be forceably filled by those on the dole, costing us money and not making us it...

Utter bollocks?? Read the stats mate...

Stop importing goods? Whats that got to do with it? Next step after importing people? Thing is, we aren't actually controlling the import of people for our benefit like we are goods, we are being flooded and cant cope with it, hence they are costing us more than they make us, especially by the time they have brought the 7 generations of their family over...There is a difference in us importing and people exporting themselves onto us. The goods we import, do they get into organised crime, cheat the system, claim benefits, and use our over generous nature and lax laws and punishments to their advantage? Do they burden us at any point in any way?

A prime example of this political correctness is these quotas to fill jobs with certain numbers of certain ethnic minorities. Perfectly healthy, fit, able white christian people are getting turned away from the police, and other well paid and skilled jobs, purely because they are white and English and dont fit a criteria. I'm sorry, but I find this absolutely absurd. Single a coloured man out of a job becuase of the colour of his skin and there would be outrage, court cases, and he would be awarded millions for the distress he would have suffered. Those involved would be branded racist and charged accordingly. Yet its legally OK to discrimate against when its other way round. How is this not racist??

If you think I am a fascist then so be it, I'll get over it. If you think I am racist, you are wrong. I am only voicing and sharing the opinions of the majority of people about issues that do need to be addressed. For some reason, voicing your opinion if it isn't politically correct or possibly controversial or offensive to some people in any way is a taboo. Why? What happened to freedom of speech and opinion.

No, I do mean pedestrians...

People need to be educated that they can't just walk out onto public roads without looking, and that under no means do they have right of way over traffic.

A daft way of thinking maybe but I am fed up with seeing people walk out into the road, expecting cars to stop, almost causing an accident, and not even looking up to apologise or acknowledge the chaos they have caused as they carry on their way...

Look at Kieran, pretty in pink. Not so nice in claret though. And not so nice for the poor sod that hit him and has to live with it for the rest of his life through no fault of his own.

I think I know what you mean. Basically, you would make "jaywalking" an offence like it is in the USA - ie - only cross at a pedestrian crossing or junction? That would involve funamental changes to road structures and stuff which would cost a lot but may well improve safety.

However, deeper in to the routes of this country is the right for cyclists, horse riders etc to use the roads and have equal rights to other vehicles. How do you propose this be changed? Should a horses and pedal bikes have a tax disc on its ear/handlebar or would you ban them from the roads? [:p]

Quite a random set of policies I have thought of...

Environment.

All new houses must have solar panels and wind generators installed (electricity generating dependant on region's climate). Existing houses given a very good subsidy to have these installed (worthwhile and cost effective in the short term).

No more houses in the south east, except brownfield sites. There should be redevelopment of other parts of the UK.

More freight on the rails.

Supermarkets *made* to support home grown produce over imported produce

No tax on UK brewed beer/wine/spirits.

More organic farming.

On the NHS

Get rid of the NHS, it is too expensive. In place we pay for our own private health care and the amount we pay is based on our "risk level". The amount we pay depends on our "way of life", our health and fitness. This means those of us who look after ourselves (those of use that do not over-eat, do not smoke, do not over-drink, do not take drugs, don't do any exercise) pay what is in accordance to our "risk-level". Those with a natural disease are exempt of course for cover of that disease and low income families have help also.

On Iraq

Pull out and apologise, saying Blair made a terrible mistake.

On education.

More emphisis at an early age (2-3 years).

Paedaphiles should be branded or tattooed on the forehead once they get out of prison with an appropriate symbol.

I'd prohibit the sale of women's clothing, with the exception of clothing for fat birds.
