They're still considered as crap even in the far east. If Daewoo got to the standard of Skoda and Seat, then yes I would. No way with Proton though, sounds like a bad 50's B movie.

Its interesting cos my mate use to have a Daewoo Leganza due to the level of equipment he got in the car. He said it was a very good car for the money (he bought it new). He then went from that to a BMW M5. Massive leap. But now hes pulling in the birds, and going out with a glamour model.

Being honest Mark, its all about branding. Sometimes Branding alone makes or break a company. I think if Skoda was to be renamed right now or had its badge changed, then many more people will take to it. Sometimes even though a company is better now than it was before, no one will ever forget about the history of the company. Some companies (i.e. Seat for instance) fare better than others. Its going to take Skoda a while before people buy it in the masses (actually they do now but you know what I mean). Can you remember on one of these car programs before when the Octvaia was brand new and they covered up all the badges, everyone said they would buy it. But as soon as they found out it was a Skoda, people said different. Such is the world of Branding. Thats why we have a whole list of Branding books now. (jeese Im a geek, been reading all the branding books we publish)

Funnily enough, I now have a friend whose dad works at Skoda and I've been in his Fabia a few times, and honestly, no looks of disgust from anyone.
