I've got a maximum of ?300 to spend.

It must have USB and Serial (for me vag-com innit []) and also have enough guts to run XP without problems.

Reconditioned/Refurbished is ok, 2nd Hand is also ok!

Someone help me out as eBay is doing my nut in!

Does that medion have the WXGA screen? Just I was looking at a brand new Medion yesterday (nice lappy, small and light) Something WELL worth looking for if anyone is in the market for a new laptop.

Not sure about the screen mate... Just know it's a 15" TFT and not widescreen.

It *should* arrive tomorrow, so I'll let you know.

There are quite a few bargain new laptops about... my problem is I have a serial vag com lead, so need a laptop with serial connection.... hardly any new laptops have this. (USB taken over!!)[]

You'll tell instantly as it with either look like a normal LCD or have a glass like effect on it which makes the screen crystal clear. Just the Medion one I was looking at yesterday had one on it anf that was ?499, was tempted!!

Ahhh, no, I don't think it'll have anything like that.

?499 seems a very good price for a brand new laptop though... What are the specs?

Mine is reconditioned and was still over my budget at ?370... I only wanted something cheap to do vag-com and internet etc... I just thought that all the ones on eBay that were sub ?300 seemed to be very low spec... This one was just over my ?300 budget, but had pretty decent spec.

It was smaller than normal but a cool little size. Can't remember the exact specs of it all but...

Mobile 1.5 Processor - Or it could have been a celeron 2.2 (2 I was looking at and cant remember which was which)

Looked good and was ?499 including VAT in staples. Was in there getting paper and stuff and would be rude not to look while your in there. Why are stationery shops so fascinating?

I've just purchased a USB VAG-COM lead off Ebay. It consists of two parts, the standard serial VAG COM lead and a USB>Serial converter lead. It all appears to work quite well since the USB convertor has been thorougly tested and is certified to work with the lead. Since you already have a serial lead you could just buy a USB>serial convertor for around ?15 and voila [*]
