the simplest way is with a dension ice link plus! I have one of these and its pretty good! Cost ?100 from www.ihavetohave.it .This was the head unit thinks its a cd changer and u can change discs etc from there! It goes by playlists!
Its worked fine with my gamma unit without any problems encountered so far. Simple to install once I got over the handicap of fat hands and sits well on the shelf in the glovebox.
u can just get an aux lead with RCA connections on the end! this will connect, however it will not charge your IPOD. these leads are about ?6
this doesnt work on the Gamma/Beta with the mini-iso connector because the changer function cannot pic up the ipod just from the sound signal it gives out, i have tried!
cheers Paul - Been thinking about getting an iPod, purely for the car for a while now, but my good ol' Nan has decided to treat me as an early Birthday prezzie . . . ! Now I need to decide which one to get . . .
For anyone with an Alpine headunit! Ill be getting an iPod mini next week, and as I have an Alpine headunit, the KCA-420i adpater is definitely on my list. Its ?69.99, and il be able to control everything stored on the iPod from the headunit or remote. Il prob just store the iPod in the boot. You must have a headunit with 'Ai-net' however, think it was introduced to Alpine models at some point in 2004.
agreed, the kca420i is an awesome piece of kit, got mine for 40 quid in the states, bargain!! works like a dream, lets you search ipod by playlists, artists, albums or songs. top value IMHO
I have gone for an Alpine CDA-9847R with the optional KCA-420i ipod interface. In my opinion this is the best way to go. I have my ipod connected up in the glove box. The interface keeps the ipod charged and it is about the only interface on the market where you can control the ipod from the head unit. I addition the sound from this Alpine unit is many times better than my pants old Gamma so I Killed two birds with one stone [^]
