Right.. I need your help !

The gf wants to replace her Ka with a StreetKa.. now, i'm trying to get her to go for something better.. that she won't lose a shed load of money on.. so, i'm trying to convince her to get a Lupo.. perhaps the 100bhp model.. kinda cute (as that's what matters to her), can you guys come up with some good arguments that I can use ?!?! She likes the StreetKa cos it's girly.. nevermind that's it's got dreadful residuals and she could have something classier like a VW for example !

It's ugly ugly ugly. From a girl [:D]

Assuming the streetka is just the ka in convertible (following on from Foxy's post) it only just gets into the 3* NCAP rating:

"The Ka gains most of its score from side impact and was particularly poor in protecting the driver?s legs from serious injury."

The Lupo gets 4*

"This is a strong car, giving its occupants all-round protection."

I agree with you completely there Cat.. but the gf only sees cars for what they look like and what colour they are.. not how well they go, how they handle in a crash or depreciation.. I reckon the lupo is alright though. I think it's gonna be along the lines of the ka or lupo or similar sized car.. she'd like a TT, but she'll find the insurance a killer.

Yeah, but I think you could use it in a "if you get this car and are involved in a crash you could lose your legs" way, to appeal to her superficial attitude

(sounds harsh, not intended [^])

What about a Seat Ibiza? Or is it a supermini she's after? Yaris is also quite cute - or a Polo (not keen on the Lupo myself).

Get her to go for a spin in my other half's Polo GTi. That should be enough to convince her a Ford Ka is one step up from a baked bean tin on rollerskate wheels.

PM me for details.....

Now there's a thought, A ! Do ya think your misses would mind ? I want her to get something that's a step up from a ford and will have better depreciation and also a bit quicker too ! and possibly be safer into the bargain too [:)] and not look (inside) like an explosion in a plastic factory ! (as someone on here once said [:D] )

I'll speak to her bout it and try and convince her a bit more first though.. 'preciate the offer though dood. I think she's slowly comin' round to the idea though.. actually managed to get her too look at the vw website last night.

I think it's more of a supermini type car she's after tbh, Cat. The Yaris might appeal, I've heard a couple of good things about them recently too. Ideally it'd be a dub though.. [8D]

get her down to st G's lol

did not know the lopo was 100BHP, it must have a good PWR compared to my golf.

take her on a no holds bared spin in yours and let her know a ka could never be like that but that a lopo is 1/2 way there [;)]

Yeah, IIRC, the model below the Lupo GTI is the 100 BHP model.. pretty nippy for a 1.4.

My g/f has a Yaris and it's a neat little thing. V smart in black abd the LED dash is quite funky and it handles quite well for what it is. Go for a 1.3 though as the 1.0 is a bit noisy on motorways.

Don't know if you saw this yesterday, but they are 1K of all lupo's at the moment.

Sport 1.4 16V 100PS ?9,515

Sport 1.4 TDI 75PS ?9,560

GTI ?12,455

Think of the money saving. Also you get get her on the image of VW being Classier than Fords.
