Been a busy boy today.

The old brakes came off OK except for the bolts holding the carriers onto the hubs - i had to resort to my 4 foot bar over the socket ratchet !

Threadlock compount used for re-install.

Pressure bleed ket came in handy on the 'commissioning' stage.

All back together and then a 20 mile trial.........driving the wife somewhere so didn't get chance to stand on them.

They felt really great though, even with light pedal pressure.

nice job Jon.. it does make it stand out against the blue body,,. I think i will be (with abit of help from "you know who") doing the same when i get the new wheel..

I see you managed to get it all done before it rain!!

Yeah - thanks!

This is not a paint job by the way - these are new Mk5 GTi full front brake setup.

The originals were 288mm and these beggers are 312mm....the caliper is similar to original bar the colour!

Didn't need to change the backing plate......

I expect that the original caliper *may* go onto the GTi carrier as it seems about the same size.

I'm hoping this is the case as the pads *may* also be compatible too.

These are from a certain 'well known' GTi - all genuine and above board - and only 100 miles old!

Oh, and by the way - these babies have filled in that 'oh i hope we can stop' area that the original brakes exhibited after the remap.
