Friend's had to change the battery on his carkey, and by doing so it now won't open/arm/disarm/lock the car doors anymore.

At the moment he's having to lock the car via the boot lock, as he's delocked the car.

Question is, how do u resync the key?

bearing in mind, he's only got one key (other key is miles away
at his mums), and he doesn't have the barrel lock to hand, as this is
lost somewhere in his mums garage!

I'm guessing you've tried using the boot lock?

worth a shot. It can wind down windows so there is something behind it.

just press the unlock button once on the remote, stick the manual key in and unlock the car.

Is that the only way? Just had to replace batteries in one of my keys and don't really want to go through the hassle of refitting the door lock to resync it.

If you don't have access to VAG-COM or similar (believe it or not some third world countries are that backward they haven't even heard of it[:p]) you can take the doorcard off and ground the lock or unlock wire, this simulates turning the key in the lock.

Pins #4 or #24 on the multiplex module if you want to try it.

I've got to pop the doorcard off tomorrow anyway to get rid of a squeak, so I'll give that a try. Thanks Chris [:)]

Chris to the de-lock rescue again!! LEG-END [Y]

I love the look of the de-lock, but they are soooo evil! almost cried when I paid £50 for a barrel and key last week, doesnt look the same now, but can rest easy in the fact that I have emergency acces to the car....no more unpleasant cold nights in car parks!

But they can't unless they have a legitimate key and transponder?

They can if they get in via the usual non delocked method!
How,these aren't 20 year old Transit vans that can be started with a screwdriver?

You can't turn an OEM alarm off by turning the doorlock,it can only be turned off by remote or by putting a legitimate key into the ignition and turning it on.

why all this delocking fuss then?
on standard locks, you can get in without ever having set off the alarm in the first place, thats why.

Once it goes off you can only turn it off with a legit key etc

But with the locks in, you can do it very easily and not even set the alarm off, Ive done it to my own car just to see how easy it was, I caused no damage at all and I have no experience stealing cars lol

Its a fuss for nothing... If you open the door with a screwdriver via the mechanism, it leaves 15-30 seconds until the alarm goes off. So all they can do is steal loose contents and start running before the alarm goes off.

If you HAVE de-locked the car, they will just put the window through to do the same.

Its a big 'security loophole' that is very minor actually, as it only gives 30 seconds longer to gain entry. If they are trying to steal the car itself, there are many other sophistocated ways to gain entry silently. Including using voltage spikes to certain circuits. Have done it on friends cars to scare them for a laugh.

Trust me, if you went through what I did in that carpark that night, you would never de-lock the car. Think its a CCM on the way out that exaggerated the issue though.

Because it gives bored mk.4 owners something to organise group buys for so they can save 50p[:p].

There must be something wrong with your car or CCM in that case, opening the drivers door should give you a 20 second delay before the alarm goes off, opening any other door/boot/bonnet will trigger it instantly. If you arm it and don't get the indicator flash it thinks something is open so won't set the alarm,it only locks the doors.

It cant, it requires a remote fob press, OR the transponder to match in the ignition barrel.

The key for my door is cut differently to the ignition one, which would confuse the hell out of anyone that got the ddor key. It also doesnt have a transponder. I bought it for emergency use.

Plus, I found a clever way to prevent the immobiliser being beaten that I thought was GENIOUS! not sharing though. Would event prevent VW software being used to bypass the system.
