Hey guys,

I've decided to service the car myself to save a bit of money but am having trouble gaining access to the air filter. I have a MK4 golf 1.6 petrol 51 plate. To gain access to the air filter it appears that I have to remove the plastic engine cover. However, I am struggling to remove it. There are about 12 screws holding it on (some philips and some hex heads) but a couple are impossible to access.

I'm prob being stupid but can someone tell me how to remove the engine cover.

Cheers,

James

Hi

Air filter is enclosed in engine cover assembly and this whole unit is only a push fit on to the top of the engine.

Take off the crank case breather hose on the left hand rear corner and unclip coolant hose on right hand side.

Try pulling front up first (grab front right and front left corner) then the rear,

This is good for 51 plate AZD engine.

Good luck
