Hello Eddie,

Yes that's correct, the fault returns after i clearing it.

The horn works and everything works perfect except the airbag warning.

I all ready order a 1K0 959 653 A slip ring and I hope this will solve the problem.

I will let you know when I'll install it.

Thanks for replying

Time to resurrect this thread again!

I have the standard (Fugly) 4 spoke steering wheel which I am hoping to swap for a flat bottom GTI wheel (non mfsw).

I have some questions...

Do I need a different air bag wiring loom?

I am hoping to use my original airbag and just buy a new cover like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270876260497?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1016wt_952

recently found out that the air bags are the same, just with a different cover!

Will anything need coding in? Or is it just a case of swapping, plug in and go?

Cheers

Hi Guys wonder if you can help me, trying to upgrade to a MFSW in my Seat Altea, (not a VW I know but we are all in the same family, lol)

These are the modules I did / have fitted

1K0 953 549 BC steering wheel control module, upgraded this to a 1K0 953 549 BD

1K0 959 653 C this i think is good to stay as it is

also replaced the airbag wiring loom, got that new from a stealer

Also changed my steering wheel control info via vagcom from 0000042 to 0003042

Problem I have is, the horn doesnt work, the buttons do not work nor do they even light up.

I have checked all my wiring and checked the control module pins arent bent but nada.

The only difference between my wheel and the wheel shown on page 1 is the wheel on page 1 has the two sets of buttons going to a block at the bottom of the wheel, these have the ribbon cables from both button sets, my wheel has the two sets of buttons with a ribbon cable joining the buttons and a flying lead to the bottom of the wheel, would this make any difference???

Any help you can give would be great, my 2hrs 20mins is more like 5 hrs at the mo, and counting

Thanks

Ieuan

Hi Thanks for that, sorry to say I have tried 0002042, just the same, no horn , no button light and no buttons work either. If I try 000002042 or 0001042 the horn blow constantly.

My car has cruise control so I guess I should be using 0003042.

Need to check out the wheel and buttons to see if they are right for me, not sure if I need the single ribbon cable buttons or dual ribbon cable buttons

Thx for your input

Dave

after having a good read through, im pretty sure what i need to get and do.

my last car a 58 plate golf match bluemotion. had cruise the mfsw full height mfa with all the controls to change car settings on and a basic stereo.

my new car is an 09 plate touran se bluemotion. it has a rds 510 (no dab?!?) full height mfa cruise, and a shark fin ariel.

i plan to swap out stereo foreither a rcd510 with dab or a rns 510. i pressume the shark fin is the nav/dab ariel.

but my question is if i fit the mfsw with the new controller will this allow me to change car settings like on my old golf match bluemotion?

Hi I installed a Mk6 GTI steering wheel today into my mk5 golf with a steering column controller module : part# 1K0 953 549 CH. which I got on ebay, my car also has the mk6 Cruise control stalk : part# 1K0 953 513 G and Slip spring . part# : 1K0 959 653 rev C.

Currently the guy who programmed it has no idea what has happened but we are unable to get the power steering working anymore and the cruise control is not functioning either.

this is the error code that came up on vag com

18104/P1696/005782 - Powertrain Data Bus: Implausible Message from Steering Column Controller

can anybody help me because the volkswagen specialist mechanic has no idea what has gone wrong, he has never had this happen before???

I wonder if people would still respond considering that this thread is 5 years old

I recently bought a VW scirocco from 2009 DSG and would like to retrofit quite a few things!
MFSW
DSG Paddle Shifters
Cruise Control
Bluetooth

Reason why I'm writing in this forum, because most of the threads I found have the latest steering wheel post 2010. My steering wheel and mfd is midline just like the ones in this threads pictures I believe.

I just want to get the assurance that my plan will work on my car.
Also want to be sure that all the parts are compatible and will be possible to programme with vag com.

Still not sure what part numbers to look at exactly as I found different in every forum.

Thanks!

In general - yes. But with midline clocks you won't get all the functions which are in Highline clocks.

Perhaps bitten off more than i can chew!

I have an Eos 2.0TFsi 200ps sport.DSG midline, 2007my.
It all started with an upgraded head unit from rcd300 to rcd510. With this a power drain issue started. I resolved this with an updated CAN bus unit.

I then decided i wanted to attempt an mk6 mfsw with padle . After doing a fair bit of research i established that i would need upgrade the MFSW module aswell. I have now installed the new 549-CH modual and it works great even with the padle shift.

Now the issues... first seems to be around the coding. The car was always understeering at some slow speeds. New tires, alinement and still same issue. (This was before the new mfsw)

Now fitted the steering is very light at 65+ and the ESP starts to flash. Feels horrible.

Ive completed the G85 but intend on setting the G200 and G201 this morning to see if any better.

I have checked the ABS settings and the code doesn't seem to match the standard eos 0000096 output. Not much knowledge here... even where to find the factory code on a plate?

The next and less important issue is the cruise control. Working fine before the swap but now no dash light. I checked the coding and its set to option 3 - 4 point cruise control on ticker stalk. It just throws back an error. If i 0/zero it out from the mfsw code them no error but equally not working. Tested it ignoring dash light not being on but no luck. Anyone else have this issue? Could the 549-CH modual have a fault?

So parts of this may sound like i know what im doing but im pretty stuck with basic coding knowledge.

Can anyone help? Would very much appreciate it.

Kind regards
Danny

Hello mate, I have a Mk5 2006 Golf Gti and looking to replace the standard steering wheel with a multi function one like yours.
Question is how do I know which Steering Wheel Control module I should use?
I am unable to find the one you used (1K0-953-549-AJ) is there an alternative, for example could I use -549-AK, AL, AG, AQ or AS.

Thank you
Sal
