You'll need vag-com and MS Excel to do this, but that's about it!!

That's a second gear pull. Find a straight, flat road with no traffic. In a TDI, log Groups 005 and 006 simultaneously as you do a full throttle run from idle to redline in 3rd or 4th gear. At redline, push in the clutch and allow the car to coast as far as possible.

Get a download of the automatic calculation spreadsheet here:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dgace/images/data_stuff/tdi-dyno.xls

If you do get some results, please post them under this thread.
I'm gonna have a go over the weekend myself!

WOW! Does this really work?

Cool! Anyone have any idea which datablock thats needed for a Throttle cable 2000 1.8T? I think the one which measures speed against RPM is Datablock 6, but its only 1 datablock that can be used! Me will definitely try this out! Looks cool if it works!

Impressive...

My suggestion would be to do multiple runs, keeping as many things constant as possible... speeds, bit of road you're on... occupants in the car etc. do several plots and average em out... then average out the logged data values themselves & do another plot for comparison.

I'm not an expert, but there are a good few areas in the above process where inaccuracy & error could be introduced. It's unavoidable unfortunately. The only thing you can do is try to minimise their effect with repetition.

Of course, if you just want a whizzy graph, then one run is fine... that's all I'll be doing! [:)]

knackers... sorry guys... I bananafingered to this post thinking it was a new one & replied before realising... I'm sure it'll soon sink back to the obscurity of page 2048 or whatever.

canny one for a bump though i guess, given the VAG-COM group buy :)

OK... I have a copy of the graph spreadsheet... i don't wanna post or link it because ultimately it's not mine & the link may have been removed for a reason.

PM me an email addy...

I'm interested in knowing exactly what to do in VagCOM to log the numbers necessary to use it properly. I've got VC & the cable and stuff but have never used it. If anyone can help me with clear instructions on the VagCom part, I'll help them with a copy of the spreadsheet.

Fair do's?
