I've just taken delivery of my new 18" alloys, now awaiting tyres. But the final decision I need to make is how low to go? I orginally was considering coilovers, but currently can't afford to do so, so for now it will have to be replacement springs only! 30mm or 50mm? Post me some pictures, what does everyone suggest, I don't want too much gap in the arch showing, please help me.............[8)]

ive got 18 x 8.5 and eibach 30mm drop and in my opinion its not low enough there`s still quite a gap between tyre and arch.. im now saving up for coilovers..[]

35mm is borderline ample - i have no fouling (on 19s) even on full lock.

the trick is, get springs AND shocks, i think you will be fine with 50mm (just like cages setup)

I am currently running 19's lowered by 50/55mm on H&R suspension.

You'll need 50's for proper low.

Mines probably about 65mm front and 55 rear on coilovers. had to change the front ARB though.

Here you go:

Mine are KW coilovers that handily have the extra ARB moount as on 4wd golfs so I used an R32 bar - cots 100 quid. Needs new bushes now though...

I only thought the ARB fouling problem only affected the 1.8T because of the size of the O/S driveshaft?

I believe the same... you shouln't have a problem on a 1.6...

This is my V5, running a 35mm drop at the front and a 38mm drop at the rear. Currently have my winter 16" wheels on at the moment.

but hopefully with new air suspension i can run it around -70 or below

If i drop it 50 will i need a new ARB jobbie thingy? Want to slam it before the London Meet, but because ive got the front Oettinger lower bumper, i will be hittin everything on the ground and that doesnt sound too appealing.

I am running 18/8.5 BBS CH on FK HighSport Coilovers just fitted.

It seems every morning I get up the car seems lower...

HTC, I have only had the FK's on for 3 days, but already its alot more firm and you can feel the road, but thats to be expected.Its not as harsh as my bilstein suspension on my Mk1.

I would love to have got the Varible damper ones to try various damper settings.But Hey. It rides sweet now....

I would recomend them,also the DIY self fit..Easyish
