Having never bought a brand new car before how long do you normally wait between placing your order and actually picking the car up? Does the fact I've ordered a gtd mean the wait will be longer?

According to a VW tweet earlier this week, GTD and GTI orders are 'set to arrive in dealerships in June'. If you have ordered right at the start of the run, unless they have problems with certain options like they did with the Scirocco (Sunroof and Xenon's) then I am guessing June.

Best bet would just be to ask the dealer. They have always been very helpful with my new cars. And so they should be for the price....

The order for my GTI went in on the 29th of march and i'm told it'll be at the dealership mid june, thats on a car that has very limited allocation so think your dealer is having a laugh!? 5 months for a SE/GT? I'd consider trying another dealership mate.

Yes perhaps you are right. Only problem is I tend to deal with local main agents, not wishing to go too far to do deals. Why should different dealers be able to improve on a factory order time though.'

Dealers get ' allocations ' especially of new models to share out the 'cake'

So if the dealer or dealer group has used their allocation for that month / quarter your order may take longer.

Ordered my GT in Feb - arrived last week. Dealer estimated 10 weeks - was about 8-9 in the end.

I think you were lucky ordering in the early months of the year and think that orders made now are probably much longer for delivery - however that is only my thoughts.'
