I have returned from a trip to U.K last year where I rented a Renault Clio 1.5tdi. I met Dave from superchips at a petrol station and got talking to him about his 2.0litre Golf tdi, anyway to cut a long story short 2 days after I returned to Aus I ordered one. That was 8/11/2004 picked it up end of March and loving it. Hope to get some good info from you guys as hi tech diesels are new to Aust(Golf tdi released August 2004) and not many here know a lot about them. I am sure they are going to take off now petrol is over $1 a litre.

Hi Caged,I live in the southern suburb of Riverton about 7k's south of city centre. $1 a litre here is a lot when you are driving a 290kw V8 like a couple of my mates,a pound a litre and they would have to use them as boat anchors 1 pound is $2.50 aus. After driving these turbo diesels in U.K I am sold on them, all I have to do now is hot it up a bit to keep the V8's honest.

Hello cobber welcome. Sounds like you are going to have a laugh with your Q-car.[:D]

Which spec diesel have you bought, as there are about 4 different power outputs on sale here?

And which Dave from Superchips was it? Dave Tinsley from Superchips HQ in Buckingham (he does the mapping on my car) or Dave Guildford from Superchips London in Uxbridge (who I know has a TDI and he has done himself a "special" tweaked map?

Thanks for all the replies guy's,sounds like this is going to be a great forum. The Dave I met from superchip was driving a dark grey 2.0 GT tdi don't know his last name but seemed a really friendly bloke. My car is a 2.0 litre 103kw(approx 140h.p) 6 speed manual called a comfortline, silver same colour as caged. They dont bring out the 2.0ltr in the base model trendline that only comes with the 1.9 ltr 77 kw. How do they re-chip is it by replacing your chip or by re-programming it in situ. Also should I wait a while and run the car in before doing it(only done 1000k's)or doesn't it cause any problems. What about warranty? Thanks again.

Just crack on and get it done. The engine will loosen up over time in the same way that a standard tune one will. Enjoy the car!

G'day mate...

Am currently over here from the UK at the mo...shame you are not in Melbourne though

It is great to see our global community getting bigger...and that VW is
also growing here in the Southern Hemisphere, 2 yrs ago I hardly saw
any VW's but now they're popularity is on the up

Pity the Aussie government stand in the way with higher taxes when it comes to non local manufacturers.
