Well..... waxing my car just isn't enough anymore[:$]

I am becoming so anal about how clean my car is today was the turn of the wheel arches...

I have just spent 3 hours cleaning the rear arches[8-|]

1) wahed the arches with my power washer

2) degreased them

3) Washed by hand

4)De-tared

5)Sprayed any rusty metal with satin black paint.

6) lacered the arches

7) nice coat of plastic dressing

8) Wheels waxed with swissol autoban wax

9) tyres dressed...

10) Just the fronts to do now.

Bear in mind the car is over 2 years old now......

And pics....

It's not just you. After finding this site, I went from an annual wash to a weekly wash, wax and detail.

I'm buying expensive products that I never new existed and applying
then to my car in a way I would have thought absurd a couple of years
ago.

I now hate to see my car dirty....

Damn this site [:)]

What was this protectant that you used Martyn?

In fact, could you give us a list of all the products that you used for these steps? [a]

2) degreased them

4)De-tared

5)Sprayed any rusty metal with satin black paint. (VW paint?)

6) lacered the arches

7) nice coat of plastic dressing

Muchas gracias [:D]

I mean I don't think it is crazy at all! You probably paid some where in the region of 24,000 pounds for your car? and of course your going to give it loads of TCL, its like a spring clean for your arches. In comparison if you had just bought a new kitchen for your house your going to spend loads of time cleaning it and making it looking new! - the new discs that you have are like that.

These beasts are big investments and I like to see people looking after their stuff, I would be doing the same. In a lot of cases ones car is the biggest asset they have as many people do not own houses.

Sorry bit of a rant, no way are you crazy! you are just looking after your investment 100% :) worthwhile in the long run, it will last longer and will sell quicker too.

Ok.... for the benefit of cat...

2) degreased them - with gunk (its a special road grime remover as well - 4.99 from halfords)

4)De-tared - (loosened with white spirit - then autogleam intensive tar remover)

5)Sprayed any rusty metal with satin black paint - (halfords best satin black - 4.99)

6) lacered the arches (swissol engine lacer(sp???) brilliant stuff!!!)

7) nice coat of plastic dressing ( back to black)

Hope this helps....

BTW the fronts are finished!!![<)]

Brilliant Mate,

Now I have 2 choices to get this done on my motor,

1 Pack the Kids and Wifey of to a holiday for the weekend

2 Bribe Martyn with board and lodgings over here and copious amounts of cleaning products.

Well done mate
