[:D] Hello everyone!

My name's Darren, in two weeks I will be taking delivery of a shiney black 2002 Mk4 Golf GT TDI 150!

I thought I'd jump on here to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me before it arrives!

I'm 26, currently living in Manchester but working as a Commercial Analyst in Warrington, I like football, cars, spending money, socialising and drinking alcoholic beverages!

The daily compute over to Warrington in my current car has benn an absolute grind, hence the reason why I have opted to purchase a reliable, fantastic GT TDI! This is my current car:

A loud and noisy Citroen C2 VTR... (With 17" Pro Race wheels, FK coilovers, DeCat Manifold, Full SS Exhaust System)

I have spent quite a lot of money getting it to this state, and I have to say that I will be sorry to see it go... [:(]

Oh well, I'm sure I'll get over it! Heres the new car:

I test drove it yesterday, an it was awesome, I've never been a lover of diesels, but this car seriously changed my opinion on them!

Having never owned a Golf before, I don't really know where to start looking when it comes to part buying..

I've noticed a massive s election of aftermarket parts on EBay, but obviously I'm dubious about the quality of the products.

I've seen a full replica R32 bodykit on there £250 from Poland? Does anyone know if its a good quality product? [:S]

I think that in the next 12 months, I'll be looking to replace the suspension, add a R32 rear spoiler and possibly a bodykit. I'm also toying with the idea of having Angel Tuning come out to provide me with a BMC filter and a remap, I think the car running 190bhp might be a bit too scary!

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read my post, I look forward to speaking to you all soon!

Thanks for the welcome!

I've not even got the car yet and I'm already spending money! [:O]

I placed a rediculously low bid (£150) for the replica R32 full bodykit - and guess what? My bid was accepted...

Heres the kit I've commited to purchased - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200033759934

And here is what its mean't to look like!

What do you think guys? Has anyone else on here purchased this kit?

Hi Mate Glad there's another northern newbie on here! The kit looks smart, any chance of giving me some details on it when you recieve it (e.g. quality, ease of fitment, did everything line up ok?) I'm looking at an R32 kit for mine hopefully in the near future so if you could help out that'd be brilliant!

Of course I will, it might be a while until I post the details about it though - I wasn't expecting to win it at that price! And I haven't yet got the additional cash to get it painted and fitted! [;)]

Oh dear, I've had the time today to search through the forum to see what people think about the kit, I've noticed a fair few negative comments about Fibreglass kits, apparently ABS and other Plastic compounds are the way to go as they don't crack or look poor when painted up.

I've also noticed that I will need to purchase a new set of plastic trims for the front bumper... I think I might retract my offer and make up some excuse about not getting the car now...

Ok, I've come to my senses and cancelled the R32 Replica kit.

Reason 1 - Its Fibreglass and Polish, so its probably pants, 2 - it'd make the TDI look like an R32, when it so clearly isn't, 3 - I'd need to purchase a duplex exit exhaust and bigger wheels.

Hello Northern Monkey! Where In Manchester are you from?

Lots of people put R32 front bumpers on their motors (usually 1.8 turbos) look alright I think. And I also like the Anniversary kit [Y]

Stick up some interior pics when you get your car too [:)]

Welcome to the site nice to see you joined the VAG side [;)] I used to have a French POS too lol

haha - So this is where French Car Owners come when they grow up? [:p]

I'm currently a member of the C2 Sports Club (www.c2sportsclub.com) I posted my VW Golf pic over there and informed them of my intention to fit a replica R32 kit, I have to say I got absolutely slated!

Anyway - I'm from Moorside, its an area just on the outskirts of Oldham.. But don't let that fool you - I'm a born and bread Manc!

With owners clubs you will get slated.

Do you ever go to the townhall in Rochdale on Tuesday nights?

Oh and yes this is where French car owners go when they grow up haha (though I still feel like a kid!)

Someone else who has just signed up here used to have 2 French cars and has just got an R32, I like to think I helped with the decision after he saw mine lol! [:)]

I used to go to the townhall in Rochdale in 1999 when I had my old XR2I - But to be honest I don't know anybody that goes there anymore.

Small world indeed!

I can't say that I've been there often.

I think most modified car owners in this neck of the woods have been there at one point or another, car shows and LAM's are more my thing as I dont really see the point in Cruises. [:S]
