SIIICKKK!!!! Are are those the DynaBeams or DynaBeam-look headlights? I am aiming to place my order by the end of the month. I'm somewhat still up in the air about the celis arch but I'm completely sold on the clean look of the housing and projector in comparison to the other HID housings out there.
Please post photos once you've got them installed. What bulbs are you going for? Also please share with us any tips on the installation.
Here's a little teaser of what you've got comin your way courtesy of Damian over at TMTuning (he posted this over at the Vortex) ...
Still waiting on bulbs ronin, unfortunately I ordered the new Philips X-Treme power bulbs which seem to be in high demand right now, hopefully soon. Cant wait to get these bad boys fitted!!Couple?more pics from the Tex...
Thanks for the update! Yeah, that was from the thread I posted on the 'tex.
Question - what wattage are the Philips X-Treme? Do they not come with bulbs? I know TMTuning had fitted 100w bulbs in there but I'm concerned as to whether there's any danger in that. I understand 55w is the limit.
Man I can't wait to get mine. I am putting in an order at the end of the week. I also plan on getting some Xpel clear adhesive to protect them.
Philips X-Treme Power 55w
Thanks to new technology developed by Philips, drivers can see and be seen like never before! X-treme Power headlamps project up to 80 per cent more light on the road ahead (depending on the type of head lighting unit used in the car).
The light is powerful and intense, and the extra quality and quantity of light provided by X-treme Power lamps make them ideal for drivers who want their cars to stand out in a crowd, while ensuring driver and passenger safety is of the highest priority.
X-treme Power is fully homologated for use in all European countries without restriction as replacement for conventional lamps. It is compatible with most head lighting units, including today's modern complex-shape headlights.
? Philips X-treme Power delivers up to an astounding 80% more light than standard halogens.? DOT legal and come with the same quality and performance we put into the lighting we sell to OEMs around the world.? X-treme Power is a new ?must-have? for motoring enthusiasts and high performance drivers.? Interchangeable with existing H4 and H7? Legal for road use and safe to use with plastic lenses
Here?s what Auto Express had to say about Xtreme Power:
This is so new, we could not randomly s elect test samples, so can?t include it in our assessment. Yet performance of our pre production unit was staggering. Even compared with the current benchmark Plus per cent bulbs, the difference was immediate and dramatic. Philips claim an 80 per cent improvement over standard units, but we think that this is conservative.
The results have been achieved in the same way as the 30 and 50 per cent lamps-by taking the allowed tolerances right to the edge. This time though as well as reducing the filament and burning it hotter, Philips has shrunk the glass casing.
As a result, the gas pressure can be increased for better light output. Engineers have also optimised the geometry and shield position to focus the light where it is needed.
I just finalized my order with TMTuning for the DynaBeams ... I'll be fitting them with Osram Silverstars. Man I can't wait to get these - should arrive next week (super duper express delivery). I hope the installation isn't too hairy.
Finally. Couldn't wait any longer for the bulbs so just got on with the install. Very easy to do, although I did make life tough on myself by braking the little clip that holds the plug on the headlights. A little bit of force though and all is good. I'll take a couple more pics when its darker out to show the celis strip properly. Used my old Philips Blue Vision as dipped beam.
Bumper removal was no probs, just remove all bolts shown on instuctions. There are 2 screws they don't mention though which are attached to the very top corner of the bumper on each side where it joins the front of the arch. The clip I broke was what attaches the electrics to the actual units themselves. It kinda works on a hinge where you slot a screwdriver in and prise it open. I was just too forcefull and snapped the clip, no biggie though.Couple of pics at night. Cam phone just dosen't do them justice.
Why did you remove the whole bumper? Can't you remove those strips under the lights on a GTI-bumper?
Personally my favorite is still the original Xenon headlight. These look the same but without the chrome.Although this is a great improvement from the original headlights and also look cool with those 2 light strips.
Are they just straight replacements for the standard lights or are they like the zenon and need balast and transformers and stuff? The other thing is! do you know what the side light bulbs are in the TM pictures!!! they are super white!!?
