Recently being having an issue after locking my 2003 MK4 ARL 150 TDi with the remote key, after a minute or so the hazard lights start flashing on their own. I am able to unlock / lock the car again with the remote key but after some time I notice this keeps on happening. It started happening the day after my car had been covered in ice/snow on it if that is any clue.
I can operate the hazard lights fine using the red triangle switch inside the car. I did remove this switch also and unplugged it completely which stopped my indicators working also which is by design I believe. I left the hazard light red triangle switch unplugged completely overnight thinking this would stop the flashing, however after checking my CCTV the lights were still flashing during the night with the hazard switch inside my house. So this to me would rule out the hazard switch itself I would assume. I did plug in a diagnostic reader and the only code that came up was Key Signal Too Low - 01176. I don't believe it to be a remote key fob battery issue as the car was locking / unlocking fine and also the engine started until today when I think the battery finally drained due to this issue. Can anyone offer any further suggestions, the battery is only 2 years old a Bosch S4008 so I dont suspect this is faulty either. Thank you

Sounds like an alarm issue or a bad CCM.

CCM is around £10-£15 second hand, but you'll need to re-program your remote fobs for remote unlocking.

Have you tried deactivating motion sensors before locking? The switch just inside the driver's kick panel, under the seat belt.

Hi, no I haven't deactivated the motion sensors. I will try that tomorrow. If I was to get a replacement CCM, I assume the keys can manually unlock and start the car until I can get them re-programmed?

Thanks everyone, let me try and get another scan and I will take a look at the CCM for anything obvious. I did try disabling the interior sensors but the light on the button under the seatbelt just always stays on red, not matter how many times I press it with the door open and key out of the ignition. I checked the rear ultrasonic/reading lights and one of them does not illuminate so I unplugged it and locked the car again but within 15 seconds the hazards start flashing again. Will keep you posted....

Correct, manual locking and immobiliser will be unaffected. They can be re-programmed at home, plenty of guides on YouTube. On a high level, it just involves turning the lock in the door while ignition is on, and pressing the fob buttons.

Thanks, OK I have just done 2 scans and no errors are flagging up now. I removed the CCM, opened it up and it appears OK and as dry as can be expected, there are no obvious cracked solder joints so plugged it back in. One thing I have also just noticed is when the car is unlocked the red led in the drivers door is still flashing which I don't think is normal. When the drivers door is open it recognises the door is open by showing the open door symbol in the dash display. Could this be the famous faulty door lock module or would you still think it points to the CCM / alarm?

Thanks, I need to try and charge the battery now before any further scans can be done. I was previously scanning via OBDeleven which was not coming back with anything so I will try VCDS when I get a charged battery. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi, managed to get enough charge to run a VCDS scan. It is coming up with a door lock module error:
00931 - Locking Module for Central Locking; Rear Right (F223)
27-00 - Implausible Signal

Also think I found the alarm scan in measuring block 16 and the last 4 alarm sources all say 18. Does this help?

18 is odd, unless it's additive with ignition and RR door?

Hi thanks, yes nothing obvious relating to 18 but either way I will have the RR dock lock module changed in the next few days, so will see from there if it makes a difference. Thanks
