Although the horn in my bora v5 isnt toooo bad (unlike my friends
"noddy" horn in his yaris) I still think it needs an upgade. Not loud
enough to scare people who cut me up or get other peoples attention.
Ive been reading a lot about new horns and have concluded that the
hella ones are too italiany meaning they are higher pitched than
normal. I want one sounding the same as the horn on the dub now but
LOUDER ! [:d]

So, has anyone done this mod before ? If so, which horn did you go for ?

my mate changed the horn on his polo for one from a merc and its now alot louder than the one my Bora has. I'll try find out what merc he got it from.

Theres nothing sacred about crappy horns.

This merc pulled out very dangerouly in front of me today from a side
road (crazy loon driving daddys car probably) and i pressed my horn but
didnt get any sense of relief. I need something to blow the
mother?)*?$)*'s heads off [:d]

Then you need one of those mega loud ones off a ship or something [] Or how about just wiring up an extra horn or two in parallel? Was just about to suggest wiring it up to your I.C.E. but that would probably blow your head off which is not the desired effect...

I've been thinking about changing my horn for a while now, i'm tempted to go with a truck horn. They tend to have a lot deeper note and are much louder, just not found one yet!!

Anyone know how this stands with the mot??

If you do find a truck horn make sure it's a 12v before you put it on your car - most trucks are 24v

Might have to go insearch of a similar horn we had in our vw camper, that one was from a lancia and it was really agressive (trust the italians[])
