Went with a few VW lads today to a RR session - got good results I think.

Don't have a scanner to scan in the dyno plot but these are the figures anyway.

Power at flywheel 152.9 BHP

Power at wheels 132.2 BHP

Power loss 17.8 BHP

Maximum torque 280.5 lb ft !! (standard is 235)

Power doesn't drop off until almost exactly at 4K RPM and the torque curve is pretty well spread right up to 4K RPM also.

So all in all for a standard car she's pretty good.

Tom's is down at 163bhp, Martin reckons his MAF is on the way out but I'm sure he'll be on here to tell you himself. I had a go of his beast anyway, I can see why he doesn't wanna change it yet!

Micky's Golf is putting out a very impressive 350 lb ft of torque!!!!

As for my torque figure, I would assume I could still expect an increase of at least 40 lb ft with a chip?

The torque figure does seem very high compared to Audi's figure of 235 lb ft but I've no reason not to believe it either, Martin knows his stuff.

i did get a torque reading of 353.7 but id say it does seem a little high even though my TDI was always a torquey car, i always had a higher reading than any other TDI that was on that rollers. im more interested in bhp, mine is producing now ( had ecu tweaked since) up to 180bhp which im happy with.

Did tom have his downpipe fitted???

Of course !! Do you think I buy parts and then just leave them in the shed for weeks (months ?) waiting to fit them .... [:p][:p]

Forgot to mention I took Mark's car for a little spin. Very nice. Really smooth power delivery, but it's gagging for a remap. The suspension is pretty good, I drove a standard suspension Mk4 and the new A3 back to back, and the difference is pretty big, the A3 is well able to hold.

At least he didn't mention the brake pedal incident over here!

The one with you holding onto the door grab handle for dear life, and trying to press the passenger side brake pedal ?

Some people just have no confidence in my driving ability ...
