I was toying with having mine coded but after living with then for a while I think they look better as they are, thery're a nice contrast to the paint but if yours is black I think it lends itself to having them coded. I alsothink that the outer part of the front spoiler should be coded (if you have one?)

I'll be doing the rear but not all of it, I will be leaving the centre section plastic. I've only got the GT TD so i'll be improving it with GTi bits. I would go for the front bumper but the wife doesn't like the plastic honeycombe for some strange reason

I phoned my insurance to ask about votex kit charged me ?70 and i have a letter from them saying i have a body kit fitted so covered :)

if you are changing the look of the car with adding Gti bit's this will change the insurance as its not standard and will look different so they will want to charge, But i olny paid ?70 for the full votex kit.

Some may say that they wont insure you then if anything goes wrong they will not pay out see it a few times

Why would they want to put the insurance up for a manufactures part? you could say you had it put on by the dealer from new? Anyway i can run for ?88 if they get damaged :)

Chris
Not worth it mate, what if your motor gets nicked, turns up badly damaged or written off and they say the whole policy is invalid as the car is more appealing to thieves cos its modded.

Are they easy enough to fit yourself? I?m not totally inept when it comes to doing bits on the car so if its easy I?ll do it myself if it's fiddly I?ll get VW to do it before I pick her up :)<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Bump. So is this a bolt on job as the bits listed in the kit suggest? Or is there drilling or gluing involved? Had a look at a nice GTi this aft, but couldn't tell. Decided they would finish off the looks of my Tornado Red GTTDi though, so the insurance is set up for them and the Grand Prix 17" rims. Should get the car Saturday and will order the skirts soon after. Reckon to leave them black - I like the way they run from the line of the front valance to the back one.

Well here's a list of part numbers and prices, which are fresh from a dealer near me :-

Retaining Strip (left) - 1K0 853 543 - ?4.70<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Retaining Strip (right) - lK0 853 544 - ?4.70<o:p></o:p>

Hex bolt - WHT000188 (18 off) - ?0.28 each<o:p></o:p>

Skirt (left) - 1K3 853 859 9B9 - ?30.20<o:p></o:p>

Skirt (right) - 1K3 853 860 9B9 - ?30.20<o:p></o:p>

Jacking adapters - 1K0 853 493 (4 off) - ?3.24 each<o:p></o:p>

Fixing screws - N103 546 01 (8 off) - ?0.14 each<o:p></o:p>

Total Cost = ?88.92 inc. vat.

His computer wasn't live, (it was late) so he couldn't tell me about availability, but the price is pretty good. Someone's got to do a "How To" on this - I hope its not me! Looking at the bits, I reckon it means drilling holes in sills - on a new car! I don't know if I could! [:S]
