you need to find with a decent straight track to do the 1/4 mile testing and have a run-off area and for tyre testing, also loads of parking, easy access etc. Not so easy I'd imagine.

The weather..hmmm.I'd say maybe beg June but who knows in this country ??!

I was, casually, asked by the organisers about venues at the weekend and I suggested Rockingham at Corby Northants.

Loads of space, a race track/sprint to use and centrally located. The circuit is very keen on increasing its number of events so the cost shouldn't be as much as Silverstone, Donington, etc.

As to the weather, I organised an event at Brands Hatch in 1992 on 4th July. We still had terrible weather which included a happy camper being taken to hospital with possible pneumonia!

This was my 12th year at Inters and I thought it was crap! What have they done, it seemed to me that there was nobody there.

In 12 years I have never had two bad years (weather) on the run. Plus it's all far to spread out.

IMHO all autometrix is interested in is making more money every year, they find the cheapest site and that will do. I have spoken to them several times and all I get is there is nowhere in the UK suitable as a venue than there.

I am from the west mids and it took me 3 hours to get there 3.5 to get back some of the guys I spoke to had come from Ireland and they had 7 hours in the car and 3 in ferry to look forward to, I wouldn't do it.

I noticed the lack of VW's on the motorway before and after the event normally there are tons are modded and standard motors on the journey home, yesterday I saw about 10.

All in all very disapointing and I can't say that any of my friends or me are going to return next year unless there is a change of venue.

It would probably be more popular if it was more central, rather than everyone having to take a day off work just to get there.  As for the date, well I don't think that will make a difference. We've just been unlucky with the weather for the past 2 years.  If you move it into June/July it will be more likely to clash with another show.

I travelled down from Doncaster Saturday..Saw nowt until the petrol station outside of Woodbridge. Then the camping organisers stuck me in a field with no fecker in it and thats the way it stayed.3 fields full of VAG,s and me and a couple others in field no mates.I asked him why he said no reason, but too late to decamp cos of the fecking rain. This was my first GTi inter and I,m disappointed.Apart from the club stands and the quarter it totally sucked...

I,m one of the organisers of Jeepfest and Daimler Chrysler come on board and let u kick ass in demo Jeeps off-road.I asked for a test drive in the MKV on a poxy cone track, stick ur name down mate u might just win a passenger ride..yeah right.

The club stands rocked..the quarter strip was awesome..The car park itself was an event but the rest was bollocks... Just my opinion people.

silverstone race circuit would be ideal. Large, middle'ish of UK, easy to get, easy access to motorways, room for 1/4 mile strip, race circuit for people to tear up. If TRAX can do it why cant we have GTI inters there?

It definitley needs to be moved more central.  I travelled down from South Wales on Friday night and stayed near Ipswich and it took nearly 4 and a half hours to get there.  Silverstone would be a lot better and hopefully attract more people.

I was speaking to someone on the Friday night and apparently Automatrix signed a 5 year contract with Brent water park (or what ever its called).

Looked like the only way to get it changed is for people not to go. I wont be going again!

And i echo the words of all the people who said that usually the roads are full of VAGS and u see loads of convoys. I hardly saw any.

GTi Festival at Santa Pod Sunday 10th July.  Proper 1/4 mile with proper timing for ?15 unlimited use...just queue up.  Loads more traders.  I reckon it's the 2nd best show in the country behind Ed38...but Ed38 hasn't got a sprint.

As I said in previous post it's down to autometrix making as much money as they can, I think they have shot themselves in the foot though, All I go for now is the auto jumble as my brother has loads of parts we always go down and sell em. It cost ?420 for our tickets and jumble passes this year and we were stuck in the corner at the far end of the site, last year was right by the sprint, even with the weather it wasn't to bad.

I won't be going next year thats a fact.

I also noticed that my tickets were numbered in the 1890's now bearing in mind that I only ordered online the day before the deadline I would have expected to have had higher number tickets than that!

Seems like theres lots of unhappy folks around again, the same happened after last years event which i went to.

Went latst year cos i'd not been before. Event was good but weather was pants as usual and lots started leaving around 3pm.

Didn't go this year as it was just too far away, tucked out of the way on the east coast. What flamin use is that when most of the country is as far away as you can be from it! Do the organisers live in woodbridge?

Chap from automatrix (or whatever its called) listened to all commments after last years event and said that it was difficult to find somewhere central. IMO thats just an excuse cos they'd got it booked for a number of years.

Maybe they'll actualy listen to folks if this years attendance is down on last years.

I would have thought that it would be better weather later in the year, after June say, but never in May. Just too early in the year for an outdoor mega meet like that. What about York raceway, Mallory park, M1 between junction 26 and 27! (Joke!)

You'll see again in the mags this year that they'll say it was fantastic and the folks enjoyed it! Just you wait and see!!!
