http://www.zen43025.zen.co.uk/golf/Some photos of my GTI. Had it for a week and a half, and I'm enjoying it. A few teething problems, including a disappearing front number plate (insufficient sticky tape, so got it reattached with screws) and a tempramental rear wiper. Still, I'm very glad that the 17" wheels look a lot better in the flesh than they do in photos.

By the way, the close-ups of the paddles are for those people who are
considering DSGs, and haven't been able to find the relevant
photos. They seem a little thin on the ground, so hopefully
that'll help.

Nice pics koff, btw how do you do the coloured nonsense pic - how do you apply the effect just to the background, and not the car? looks quite cool.

How does DSG work then, shift the gear stick to D, and then you're in first, and use paddles from there?

Loving that, real sweet. Why did you go with the tartan interior though?! One of the worst things about the new GTI but thats just my humble worthless opinion! Apart from that, I'm soooo jealous!!
Not visible in the photos though!

BTW - I am told the Tartan is retro thing harking back to the Mk1. Quite why they chose it then is a mystery to many, but nice if you are Scottish I suppose!

Tis!!! The one with the paddles (which is just insulting to me!! I love them!) shows it, my eyes were drawn that way almost instantly! Seriously nice car though, that DSG with the paddles looks the absolute dogs knackers.

Must say I love the interlagos cloth but then I remember my father having a MK1 with a similar interior.

If the leather had been nearer ?700 and not ?1700 I might have gone for it but decided to go for DSG with the paddles instead.

Thanks for everyone's comments. To answer one query, I'm afraid I
can't remember how I did the red filter on one of the photos. I
was messing about with Photoshop, and found something that you could
apply to s elected areas.

I "chose" the Interlagos cloth seats because I had the choice between
DSG (and wheel), or leather seats. To get both would push the
price of the car ever closer to Nissan 350Z money, so I decided to call
it a day with the options. Besides, having had leather seats in
my previous car, I got a bit fed up of the burnt/slippery legs in the
summer.

I'll bear the wiper comments in mind. Seems like a pretty bizzare oversight by VW.

Did a 500 mile trip in the car last weekend, and loved every mile of
it. The car turned out to be practical enough to carry four of
us, 2 sets of golf clubs and our weekend's luggage. And the
obligatory Road Angel... ;-)

See my entry in the Hints section. You can either put it into
drive and move the stick over to a little mini-gate (wherein you nudge
it forward to go up and back to go down, or use the paddles for both),
or you can just stick it in D or S, and switch to the paddles just by
using them. It's an excellent little system, I think.

I think I see your GTI most days on the A48 between Cardiff and Bridgend most afternoons. Thats a one nice motor but I still prefer the Mk4 dashboard for what I have seen. Could you take a photo at night with the lights on both inside and out?

Not likely, unless it's popping out for a drive when I'm in work,
Herbie-style. I moved over the bridge, so you're more likely to
see it dawdling at 5mph in Britain's slowest rush hours.

Yes, I took a few but they were under-exposed. Will try it again
at some point. The mkIV dash probably looked a bit classier, and
less like a Honda Civic's. But, to me, it does look a little
old-fashioned now. You quickly get used to the new one,
particularly because all the buttons seem to fall easily to hand.
Ergonomicaly, it's excellent.

Very nice.

May i ask if you have a photo exactly side on? As i would like i can compare the look of the 17s to picture's i have of GTIs with the 18s as i cannot decide if it's worth going for the 18s or not.[:)]

What version of photoshop are you using?

I've been using Paint Shop Pro 8 cos Photoshop 4.0 I was using used to mess the quality up when resizing photos to print, thats why I swapped.
