I'm preparing to negotiate my replacement car with my dealer. I have a 2005 model GT TDi, and I want my new one to be exactly the same (if not a little better [:D])

I know the 2Zone is now a ?695 option, so I'm prepared on that count.

But what about the ashtray/cigarette lighter ? - not that I'm a smoker, but I do make used of the 12V socket, and the silver lid keeps things nice and neat. I've read on this forum that its no longer standard and you have to specify it as an option. Having read the 2006 model brochure last night it does indeed spec the S model as having the 'non-smokers pack', but then there is no more mention of it afterwards for any of the other models; and there does not appear to be anything remotely like a 'smokers pack' in the option list (factory fitted or dealer fit)
Is it an option ? Anyone know what it is called and how much it costs ? (not that I'm looking to pay for it, just need to know the overall cost of the car so can use it in my negotiations against what I originally paid for mine)

Is there likely to be anything else that I have on my current car as standard, that is now an option ?

Cheers

Bee sting is now standard [:(]

When I ordered my GTI at the weekend I specced a smoking pack ? it?s a Free Of Charge (FOC) option hence why its not in the options list, alos not there as they are not allowed to promote smoking [:S]

However, they said its not 100% definitely got the silver lid [:S] Have to wait an see on that front!

My 2.0 TDI Highline (approx. GT spec.) is 2006 spec. Has the smoker's pack (I use cigarette lighter socket for powering GPS) with a black lid over ashtray. Inside doorhandles have altered slightly, also surround to DSG gearshift. Also bee-sting as noted above.

I have a one week old 2006 Model year GT TDI

Had to spec the 2 zone to get it.

There is no smokers pack but i have instead a black ashtry lid and below this is a 12v socket.

Internal door handles are brushed finish.

Chrome insert around the gear lever housing.

Bee sting .

Now comes standard with crap dunlop
tyres, the 2005 model had brigestones and handled far better, or else
they have changed the suspension setup, car now bounces about at every
small bump in the road

I had a 2005 model year which i rejected because of issues with the paint finish and door/panel gaps.

I think the tyres are pot luck. My 2006 MY GTTDi came with the Dunlops, but I've seen various models on all sorts, including a Golf Plus on Goodyear GSD3's - how jammy is that? Has your 2005 got silver finish headlamps or grey? They are now silver and look better IMO. The auto wipers and auto lights with coming/leaving home are now standard, both of which I could do without, especially since you don't get the under mirror "surround" lights.

I had 2 loan GT TDI's plus the one i rejected all had Bridgestones and handled better than my current 2006 model year

The 2005 model year (20th may 05) had Xenons.

Coming/leaving home lighys still standard

You get the mirror surround light with the Lux Pack

Did it cost you anything to reject/replace your car ? How old was the car/how many miles when you rejected it ? Did you have to pay anything towards the cost of the new car vs. the residual value of your old car ?

My week old Gt TDI came with Michelin energy tyres! They seem very noisy especially over rough road surfaces. Seem to be grippy enough though, although I am obviously still running in :-( so can't be really sure if they're up to it!

Michelin Energy tyres are designed for improving fuel consumption and Michelin's last forever (well almost) so that is why they will be noisy.

My SE has Goodyear Eagle NCT5 on it, grip is good and they do not seem noisey.

Given that you can spec just about everything else on the car you should be able to pick a brand of tyres!
