Along the line of whiplash claims there is a big scam in the states whereby someone deliberatly cuts up the car in front of you that then, as a consequence, is forced to do an emergency stop - whom you then go up the back of. You then find the car you went up the back of has four people in it claiming whiplash and the original car that did the cutting up has disapeared (funnily enough).

When you think that even in the UK a whiplash claim is an automatic ?3k pay out, imagine how much it costs insurers in the states. []

Was gonna say.. I agree too. These false claims are one of the many
reasons why our insurance keeps climing and climbing.. just don't do
it!!

Still, on the plus side its not going to make a dent on your insurance!
Being rear ended is a good, easy 'who was to blame' thing to work out
in 99% of cases :D

It is morally wrong but I think the viewpoint of some people is:

"I pay x amount every year in premiums to cover these scammers and have never claimed until this guy ran into me so I'm gonna have my piece of the pie while I have the chance!"

ps. - I have never claimed for an injury but I do like pie! [:D]

The amount of people telling me to claim after my accident for whiplash
was unbelievable... its like the done thing nowadays, you have an
accident, so claim, even if theres bugger all wrong with you!

Morally i think its wrong, the thought hasnt even crossed my mind about
claiming.... dont get me wrong, i could do with the cash, but i also am
disgusted by my insurance quotes each year.... you cant have it all
ways.

Exactly the same thing happened to me.

Sat there in traffic, the car behind me was hit by a women doing 50mph car automatically went into me but kind of 'lifted' me off the ground as I had my foot on the break. It hurt, a lot! But his car got most of the damage especially from my exhaust and under car. Boot wouldnt shut proper though afterwards!

Thing was, the women had 2 mins earlier picked up her brand new car (52 reg then) and 'couldnd find the brake'....PMSL...its in the normal place love. The car that she went into had a towbar that had gone right through the engine, water everywhere and was declared a right off on the scene!! Made my day.

I had whiplash, so did my girlfriend and so did both of those in the car she went into, dunno about the women that went into us. However, non of us claimed for injuries, we just got on with it (she might have done, dunno). I had to though claim off the people that went into me that she hit, i couldn't claim off the driver that did the wrong cus she didnt hit me, the car behind me did.

Amazing how much of a jolt you get though, worst thing is your completely not expecting it.

By claiming for whiplash you are just making everything and all this' oops you slipped in the garage because you had stupid shoes on....why not claim' rubbish. No one seems to be responsible for themselves no more!
