Hi there people,

I've managed to get myself a golf armrest from Ebay but upon receiving it, I've discovered that there are no bolts with it to screw it in!

Does anyone know where I can obtain all necessary screws and bolts for the armrest?

Also, I'd like to know if its possible to remove the manual dials on the air con, and replace them with the nice climatronic most Golfs have!

Cheers,

No, you can't replace the fascia to get climatronic - there's much more to it than that. You'd have to replace the entire heater unit and half of the dashboard to get at it. It would be cheaper to sell your car and buy one with it already installed.

I fitted an armrest (with no fixings) purchased from ebay. All the fixings required from the repair kit can actually be purchased as individual items, all told cost me around ?5.00 inc vat from the stealer.

Got the part numbers for the individual fixings from a link on this site on how to fit armrest.

Will see if i can find link again.

TOLL,

I never knew that you could actually purchase the bolts as individual items !!!

Are you able to supply us with a few details to I can put in an order?

Even though I live in Greece, I can get it shipped to my cousin in London and then have it shipped here... the long way around, but it will certainly be cheaper than buying the repair kit!

When i fitted my armrest i used the instructions referenced in the link posted by baz which gives a part number for a repair kit. (If i remember right the W at the start of the code is not required).

When the nice chap at the stealers parts desk types in the number he gave me the cost the called up the schematic diagram of the part to confirm it was what i wanted. When he showed me the diagram all the parts from the kit had part numbers of their own which he confirmed i could buy separate.

I only needed the 2 threaded clips, 2 bolts and the threaded hexagon standoff (which are 5 of the fixings shown in the kit diagram). I had to order them they took 2 days and cost about ?5.00.

I dont have the individual part numbers anymore, but if you have trouble getting them i could pop into the stealer on my way home from work and get them for ya.

Toll,

Thank you very much for that!

I'll pop into my local dealer tomorrow and hopefully they'll be able to sell me the individual screws and bolts aswell. If not, I'll let you know.

Cheers mate and thanks once more! I've got the armrest sitting here for over a week and I can't install it !! How depressing!!!

No problem give me a shout if you do have a problem.

Once you have the fittings it a 20 minute job at the most (and i am not the best with a spanner).

Oh yes the magnets torx bit is a very useful bit of kit its quite fiddly getting the screws under the ashtray in and out without one.
