i saw you said you tanked 95 ron... no biggie the engine should run on it fine... but most will tell you somehow it prefers to run higher octane premium fuel, but if you still got 95 ron in there grab a bottle of Dipetane from halfords(they sell it at the same price as the manufacturer) than add it to the fuel as stated, and double the amount if you want it to do a proper clean out... you don't have to drive it like you stole it but it does help getting results faster.

PS Dipetane is cheaper than filling up with premium fuel, and because it adds the cleaners and some other stuff that they have removed from regular fuel ( both diesel and petrol) you can use it on both cars.
PPS yes ever since i tried it I use it on the regular, as it actually does as stated.

95 RON does make a difference on the 1.6 16v (not the 8v AKL), it's a high comp engine, and it just causes a bunch of detonation whenever I use it - same goes for plenty of people online if you have a quick search. It'll still run, but it won't be happy.

The amount of time it takes for the revs to fall in that video does seem normal compared to mine, but the tiny little spike in the revs before they fall does seem abnormal. I'll take note tomorrow when I drive the car to see if mine does it too, then I'll report back.

Is the detonation audible? If so I'll have a listen for it:

I put 98 in there with a bottle of injector cleaner, seems to run a little better now, gonna fit the cold air intake tomorrow. I bought some silicone piping and stainless to make a heat shield and cold air box for the intake

Usually audible when ragging the car and shifting up quickly, or if you're lugging the engine at low revs (high gear, low revs, foot flat to the floor). It's a metallic rattle sound, and it's there when the car is nice and warmed up fully.

I've got one and it's the same, it annoyed me when I first started driving it and like you I tried all sorts but nothing made a great deal of difference, I think it's set up like this to help with emissions.

Yeah heard that a lot lately.

I'm trying to figure out how to adjust the rev hang and delay in the ecu using winOLS. Maybe I can figure something out there and get rid of it.
I installed a CAI system and it helped a bit(makes a lovely noise too) but still nasty delay when rolling and holding the clutch....

Could help with the hang...
Maybe an air leak after all.
I spotted one starting to form at the brake booster line today. Got a new line and seems a bit improved but still hangs.
The delay is purely via the ecu: you physically don't hear the throttle plate open when going WOT. With the intake it is clearly audible when the throttle opens. The computer somehow delays it.

I'll order injector seats and give the injectors a nice bath in the ultrasonic.(i have one at my work)

After driving today, the hang/delayed dropping in revs is definitely the same in mine - so it seems just a characteristic, but the tiny spike in revs that you can see in your video isn't present in mine. The only time I get that tiny spike in revs, when dipping the clutch, is if I'm either still partly on the throttle, or if I've got cruise control on and I dip the clutch.

Finally cleaned rhe injectors and replaced injector seals.
Hang is now within acceptable levels. Been driving it for a while and it's much better now.
The delay is still very much present but I've grown to accept it and don't notice it in every day driving anymore.

Thanks for the help folks! Doinc the injectors made a big difference.

yeah from what you where saying it could only be the injectors... mind you a dirty throttle valve, or teeth missing on the wheel that operates it, might also be the reason why you notice the delay... but i figure you've cleaned the throttle already and probably checked the internals to see if the lot is not damaged.

but glad to hear it's mostly gone.

Yes I did clean the throttle body.
Haven't checked the internals but they seem fine, they gears in them don't whine or make noise so they should be fine. I could open it up for sh*ts and giggles this weekend.
